Hello all. My name is Lori, and I am at the very first step of my journey considering bariatric surgery. I am in the stage of learning all that I can, and have been given a consult to a surgeon by my family doctor. I do have some medical issues (open heart surgery 2 years ago), and am hoping for my health, I will considered a good candidate for this surgery. I am interested in lapband mostly. I am not really interested in having my insides rearranged if not necessary. Any insight anyone can give me about Christiana Hospital, or Dr. Winn would be appreciated.

Hi Lori, Dr. Wynn is awesome. She is a great surgeon and person. She is knows what she is doing and talking about. At your first appointment she will explain both surgeries to you and answer any questions you might have for her. Christiana Care was great, I never have a problem when I go there. Everyone one was kind and helpful. I would suggest getting the book Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies. It is a very informative and explains things in people terms not medical terms. Good Luck to you on your journey. Deanna

Hi Lori, Dr Wynn is fantastic. The whole Chrias staff is professional, courteous and very caring of patients concerns and needs. They do have weight loss seminars. You can call the office and ask to be scheduled to attend. The doctors speak and explain both the gastric and lap band procedures. The office number is 892-9900. Best wishes! Debi 262/106

Lori, that is typical that they take your information and then will call you back. I did that in mid August and on 9/8 I had my first appointment. I would definitely try to get the book, it's a big help and explains things very well. Good luck and let us know how things are progressing. Michelle

Hi Lori! As long as you're researching, don't forget to include the Duodenal Switch in your research. Please make sure you know all of the options available to you before making a choice you're going to live with for the rest of your life. As a teacher, I always say "Knowledge is Power." Be powerful.
