Jennifer: I called Misty yesterday. I was lucky & got her on the first call. I do not have BCBS but I understand there is an urgent situation with the CHRIAS & "need" to have surgery by Dec 15th. Does going there in person make a difference? (For me, they are four red lights away. ) Never be sorry for venting! I understand you r ready to move forward in your life. Keep your chin up & keep trying. C

Hey Jennifer, I had the Lap Band surgery on 9/11/06 by Dr Irgau...CHRIAS group are excellant..I had the surgery done at St Francis Hospital...I am down 40 pounds so far...In regards to the pre op testing,,,,I had to see a pulmonologist, Psch Dr (scam, but they insist you to have it done LOL) cardiologist and blood work.....There Lap Band meetings on the 1st Thursday of every month 7:30 at the Concordia Lutheran Church on Silverside Rd. in Wilmington,Del...Those support meetings are great for pre op and post op patients....You learn so much.....I was operated at 1:15 and was home the next morning, the only pain I expierenced was the gas pain in the shoulder area and you have to walk it out.... The Lap Band operation takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour...The CHRIAS surgeons, Irgau, Peters, Wynn etc will explain each type of surgery to you...What type of surgery are you looking into? Good luck....Dave

I know everyone's experience is different, but so far, I have had a very uneventful recovery. On a scale of 1-10, my worst pain was about 3 (and I'm a WIMP!). Dr. Wynn was my surgeon, and she was wonderful! I'm 5 weeks post-op, and I've lost about 24 lbs. I do have a little trouble getting in all of the food and water, but everyday is a new day. So far, I have been able to tolerate whatever I eat (which can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it). I don't feel hungry, although I will admit that during the pureed foods stage, I began to miss "real" food. Luckily, you're only on pureed foods for 4 weeks. I researched WLS for about two years before deciding to have it. Knowledge is power, so keep researching, and good luck!
