Did anyone hear that CHRIAS is dropping Blue Cross/Blue Shield participation again starting Dec. 15th? A friend who has her first appointment in December was told that she would need the full appointment amount. I hope this either (A) isn't true or (B) gets settled soon. I can't afford the follow-up care! Any news out there?

From what I was told it depends on what BC/BS you have. I have BC/BS PPO thru my employer. When I asked BC/BS they told me dont worry about it as Dr Irgau said the same. We will see I suppose..................

I was at CHRIAS yesterday for my last pre-op appt, right now everything is fine for me. I have BCBS POS plan, they are indicating I should be fine for followup but they will inform me of any changes. You should write a letter to BCBS and express your dismass at the possibility of them going out of network, I think the more people do the better chance of changes being made.... Good luck to your friend! Michelle

I went to CHRIAS on 11/9 and I have BC/BS PPO I was told that as of December 15th they would no longer be an IN NETWORK provider. That we would have to pay $125 or so per visit if we wanted to continue going there. I think this is truly unbelievable. It angers me at society and how money dictates everything. Men can get VIAGRA to help with their 'problems', but people cannot get LIFE altering help. Makes no sense. I did voice my concerns to the Dr, doesn't seem like there is much that can be done. Kim

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Personal Choice PPO and my employer is in Pennsylvania. I just got off the telephone with my insurance company and they said they have no indication of them terminating any policies or contracts with CHRIAS or Dr Irgau' office on 12/15/06, in fact they said as of right now, they will be still in network after 12/15/06. When I spoke to Dr Irgau last week, he said that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware were the company that were giving CHRIAS the problems with renewing any contracts....Dr Irgau even said he has no problem with the insurance company taking the surgery out of network, but to let CHRIAS still continue follow up care with the patients who already had the surgery...Good Luck everyone...
