question about surgery approval

I like many people it seems am under a time crunch to get my surgery done (due to the BCBS and CHRIAS issues). I have all of my approvals except one, I go to PMRI next Thurs for the final approval from the Dr. I just had my labs done on Friday, and my PCP called to tell me that my Glucose was 108 (normal 99) and my B12 was 5.0 (normal 5.4). I have heard that high sugar levels will cause me not to be approved for Surgery, and it would take a couple of weeks to get it down with meds. My current surgery date is 12/06 so that does not leave me much time, does anyone have any information for me on this, I have not had sugar problems before so I do not know if this is high enough to cause me problems with my surgery approval. Any information that you can provide would be helpful. I am really worried about the approval right now. Thanks.....

I wouldn't worry about it. At my pre-op with PMRI my sugar came back at 103, the told me I was prediabetic and a month later I had my surgerary. Have diabeties is something obese people usually have anyway, so they shouldn't keep you from having your surgery when you didn't even know until just this test that you even had it. Don't worry, it will all come together. I had the flu 5 days before I was to have my surgery, they gave me some heavy duty antibiotics and I was in that operating room ready and waiting for them the day of my surgery. Good luck and don't worry about your sugar, jus****ch what you eat for the next month and you will be fine. Deanna
