Chrias / BCBS

My understanding is the Chrias is only in Network till Dec. 15 per phone call to BCBS. There is one physician who I will be eligible to follow up with, and that is a Dr Katz at Crozier Hospital. According to BCBS even in an emergency I should try to go Crozier Hospital not Christiana Hospital which is right down the street from where I live. This is crazy. I don't know what the problem is between Chrias and BCBS but we as patients are being kicked to the curb so to speak. No one seems to be taking the health of the patient into consideration, it's all about the money on both sides.

You are right. After my support meeting last night it was said we should join forces and let BCBS know how we feel. Keep in mind Dr Katz up at Crozier is alone, he has no one to back him up at all. So it will be harder to see him also. I am in progress for my surgery and am battling this all the way through it. Michelle

Damn!!! I thought they settled the problem they were having with BCBS!

I have an appt with Dr Irgau next week for a follow up and will be sure to question him regarding the BC/BS issues since I too have this insurance. I specificly did make a choice for my surgery to be performed at Christiana even tho I work in a Pennslyvania Hospitals Operating Room. From my Primary Care Physician to my Surgeon I choose Delaware Physicians to be more comfortable and have easier access. (Yes I do not want to commute to down town Philly when I am not working for my healthcare) I do not wish to change to Pennsylvania Physicians as well as Laboratories and Radiology services and will certainly contact my Insurance as well as the Medical Board of Delaware. If I am ''IN Network'' per BC/BS (and pay a premium to be so) I should be able to go to my selected surgeon.

i have a friend who is having lap band surgery and they are trying to get it in by dec 15th because she was told that chrias would be out of network after 12/15
