Hello, life skill classed pretty much inform more about the surgery what you can do what you should do. It may be more involved now because my surgery was over 1 yr ago. As far as cost I have no clue. Good Luck Christie

I have to attend 3 classes once a week prior, and 2 or 3 after with the dietian. I am going to my second class tonight. My insurance BCBS of De does not cover any of these, the first three are 275.00 and the last ones are 300.00. They want you to pay for at least the first three before they will schedule. Good Luck.....

If the insurance requires the classes, why don't they pay for them?????

Where are you having the surgery performed? Christiana Care is the one *****quired the life skill classes for my surgery - not the insurance company. That's why insurance wouldn't cover it. When I had my surgery, St. Francis was performing the surgeries without requiring the life skills classes. Perhaps this is an option for you. The classes were good, but I didn't think they were worth $1200.

Same here as Cathy. CC required $1200 for the classes, NP, Psych exam and endincronologist appts because BCBS didn't cover those appointments for obesity related issues. SF was about 1/2 that. but that was about 18 months ago and I know some things have changes. Also like stated above, if your insurance requires the classes then they should cover them right? I would definately fight that one!

Cecilia, I have BCBS Personal Choice and I had to pay $ 575.00 for the life skills classes they charged $275.00 up front and said Christiana would bill for the balance which they did very quickly. I also had to pay ( 3) $20.00 co pays one for the nurse practioner, one for the psychologist, and one for the medical doctor. It's a little overwhelming but I'm hoping it will all be worth it. Good Luck, Lisa
