:shrug:Surgery scheduled for Friday morning
After winning my appeal to BCBS for plastic surgery to remove the telltale apron and excess skin at the tops of my legs, I'm scheduled for the procedure on Friday morning at 9:30 at Christiana Care. This has all come together in the last three or four weeks, so it's been pretty fast. Unlike WLS, I'm not as informed as I would like to be. I'm not quite sure what to expect. BCBS is calling it "out patient" surgery slated for 23 hours in the hospital. The operating room is scheduled for five hours. It's my understanding that they do liposuction first and then remove the excess skin. I know I'll be coming home with drains (which I've never had before) and they remain in place for about two weeks.
On the frustrating side, I've gained between five or ten pounds since July, even though I'm biking about six miles a day and keeping active. It's driving me nuts. But I'll get it off one way or another . . . I don't know how this affects the procedure either.
That's pretty much that as I try to get work caught up and things done before the surgery . . . and I keep falling further behind. But, I know that people are praying for a successful procedure and a speedy recovery. Even though I've not been on this forum regularly, I do appreciate your support. Keep up the good work and the postive attitudes. It means a lot.

Good luck Diane, God Bless Insurance. What procedures are you having done and which ones will be out of pocket for you? You are brave. I'm still too chicken to look into PS. Maybe one day it'll happen and I'll loose the anxiety of it all. But for right now I'm okay with my body image. Not so sure if I could deal with the PS scars. Hang in there and I'll pray for your speedy recovery.

Thanks. As far as I know, BCBS is paying for this one. They approved it. I'm having the apron removed and the excess skin at the top of both legs. It has less to do with body image and more to do with skin rashes that occur under the pannes. I'll probably go back later and have the excess skin removed around the buttocks for the same reason. That will cost about $5,000 if BCBS doesn't cover it.
Thanks so much for your encouragement.
