I have a new goal set for September of 2007 and am wondering if anyone else would be interested in attaining this goal with me. I would like to be in good enough physical shape to participate in the "Bike to the Bay" next September. I figured I have a year to train and am interested in forming a team. From what I understand, there have been others from the area who have already done this. Come on, we could have so much fun. Is there anyone out there who is interested? Please?? LOL

Carol, This is the first year in the past three that I have not done the Bike to the Bay (due to my recent surgery). Next year I will definitely be on the road. If you would like, I am the captain of the only Gastric Bypass cycling team in the nation, TEAM GASTRIC. Right now it consists of only two members, my brother and I. We are always looking for new members. The Bike to the Bay is a great ride. It is a great goal for you to set. Some people only do the 75 miles on the first day, others like to do the whole 150 mile ride. Rob

150 miles on a bike...hmmm I don't know if my butt can do it but I would certainly consider it. Okay Rob how do you train for this? What can we all do to get there. Debbie

I completed my 3rd Bike to the Bay on Saturday! My 9 yr old son wants to do it with me next year. I've been riding with State Farm and we had 27 riders this year. For those of you that want to give it a try... New this year was starting at the 1/2 way point. Also, there is a ride coming up on Saturday, Oct 28th. This fundraiser is for the Krysti Bingham Cerebral Palsy Foundation. "The Great Pumkin Ride of Delaware" there is a 7.5 mile Family Ride, 30 & 62 mile rides too. This ride will be held in Townsend. The family ride registration is only $5 and $15 if you want a shirt. This is not a pledge-required event like the Bike to the Bay. However, all money raised will go to the foundation. I will be doing the family ride with my son. I want him to check it out before next year's Bike to the Bay. If anyone is interested in the short 7.5 mile ride, shoot me an email. Carla H, I think that would be a great idea....A real motive to loose weight and to get ready for the "Bike to the Bay". Let me know with any further details

Ok I am in. I just have a few request. I require a special seat, preferably a love seat, for comfort. I may need a doctor at the end of this ride and not for cramping! Seriously. I would like to do this. It would mean a lot to me and I know it will mean a lot to you Carla. So whats the next step? Oh yeah I have a mountain bike and I know I can't ride that. So, does anyone have some suggestions on a good but not so expensive road bike? I checked out a few and I started crying about some of the prices.

The first year that I did Bike to the Bay, the whole 75+ miles, I completed it on my $70 bike from Wal-Mart. Boy did my body pay for it! Last year before the ride I purchased a Trek Hybird from Bike Line in Newark. I paid about $270, but well worth it. Some bike stores will rent bikes.... check into that before you go spending a lot of money to see if it will be something you enjoy. I love it and I'm really excited that my son wants to ride with me next year. For those of you that think you may want to give this a try... the 7.5 mile ride on Oct 28th would be a GREAT START!
