The Delaware 50 mile/500 pound Challenge!
Hello Delaware!
Since this is October 1st, it is a great time for us to take up a new challenge. I have just gotten my clearance to get back to the gym so I need to get started. Hope that you will come along for the ride. I am going into serious training to see if I can do the NYC marathon next year. It's time to start first month of the October 50 Mile/500 Pound Challenge! This challenge has been conducted over on the Mens board for several months. It is a great way to keep focused. If 50 is too many set your sites lower, if 50 is not enough then set your sites higher. I'll post every week so you can check in and report your progress.
Remember it's never too late to participate in this challenge - and EVERY type of exercise counts! So get off the couch and on your feet, on a bike seat, in the pool...JUST GET UP, GET OUT and GET FIT!!! It is so important to move to succeed. You need to mix up your cardio and your resistance training. I'm anxious to get this started! In fact I hope to track down some of our doctors and PMRI to give us some sponsorship.
So here is how it works...I'll step up each week and report my progress and hope that each of you will follow suit...
Previous Month (September): 103 miles, no lifting
Month to Date (October): 0 miles (0 walking, 0 biking, 0 pounds)
Percent of Month Elapsed: 00.0%
Percent Achieved vs. 50 Mile Goal: 00%
Percent Achieved vs. 500 Pound Goal: 00%
Goal for Week of 10/7/06: 20 miles, 1000 pounds
Eating right, taking all your vitamins, getting in all your protein and drinking water will obviously help you shed pounds. But, if you want to maximize (and perhaps accelerate) your loss, reach goal and then maintain a healthy weight - then establishing good habits and following a physical fitness program is absolutely critical to your success. SO STEP OFF THE SIDELINES AND GET IN THE GAME!!!!
I lifted this challenge from the Cards Fan (ex-professional couch potato) from Springfield, MO on the Mens board.

Officially off the couch and back to the gym. I did some running tonight as a push for me....I am not doing much of it but I figure if I can get to a 10 minute mile by the end of the winter I will accomplish something. I have done some class work too and well I don't like them as much but they are entertaining. I hate doing the math so I am just going to keep track of the new things that I do....Maybe I can shake off a few pounds by mixing it up! You are so right exercise is the key to our success.
