Hi Everyone, I had my surgery done on Monday 9/25 @ St. Francis in Wilmington, I came home on Wednesday and so far so good. Today was my best day for eating and drinking, I still have a long way to go to get to where I should be but I'm proud of myself for getting in 4 vitamins, 1 carnation instant breakfast, 1 16oz. water with a protein pack in it, about 1/2 package of sf ff vanilla pudding with 2 scoops of protein powder and 3/4 of a bottle of plain water. Anyway, my question is I feel so gassy all the time, can I take some gas-x? Does anyone know? I have to call my Dr. on Monday about my antacid they prescribed, my cheap BCBS doesn't want to pay for it so I want to see if they can prescribe something else and I will ask them but I just thought that someone might have some suggestions for me on how to deal with the gas pains. Thank you so much, this website has been an invaluable source of knowledge. Valerie

Gas is something you will have to get used to for the rest of your life. The amount of protein we take casues alot of it. Right now you will find that the MORE you walk the better it will get. That is really the key. I am not sure if you are allowed to take GasX. Maybe someone else knows that answer but I would ask you doctor to be on the safe side. Every doctor is different. Lots of good luck. Each day will get easier and it sounds like you off to a good start. Ellen

Thank you Ellen, I am trying to walk a little more every day. I know this will all fall into place. I have no regrets! I did this for my future and my families and if a little gas is the only problem that I have I will be forever grateful!!

Gas-x makes a liquid version, you can take that. What really helped me was walking and bending to unload my dishwasher. Really got the toots a moovin!

Val did you have laproscopic procedure? They blow you up with gas so that they can see what they are doing with the instruments. It will take a few days to leave your system. Walking around does help it to move. Your shoulder probably hurts the most...for some reason the gas disapates in that rea. GasX is okay to take to help with pains. But check with Dr first to be sure its okay this early out and if it will be effective for you. Protein tends to make us gassy....and some carbs too....The smell can be offensive at times. Gosh I miss my other plumbing. I don't think I smelled quite as bad before...LOL.
