Hello. My name is Pattie and I am just starting with the WLS journey. I finally after much debate in my own head, called the Barix Clinic in PA and have a group meeting on 9-21. After that I get a one on one with the doctor and then the true journey I guess begins. I am very scared and the thought of surgery makes my stomach hurt, but I want to live to a rip old age and not die when I am 60. I have many health related weight issues that I just want to go away. My biggest fear is that I will commit and will come to find out my insurance wont pay. I hear the clinic is wonderful about getting around insurance issues. But having two special needs children, they have been a pain to deal with. Anyone else have Benesite or Atnea and have great results? I have called but the insurance person said they didnt cover it though I hear they tend to say that. We shall see. I started Herbalife and have done OK so far. Nothing like the suregery would do but it is a start. Thanks for listening!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Pattie and Welcome to the Delaware Board! You are doing the right thing and keeping things in perspective! The insurance company's are controlling the surgery playing field these days. That is a sad thing. I hope all works out for you. Barix can help with all those problems and offer other alternatives. We always have to look at our options and go the best route for us. Glad you found herballife. Just remember that you are in charge...herballife is only there to be a tool for you just like the surgery. You can do it with or without surgery. Patience will help you be persistent. Good luck with the beginning part of your journey and any questions you have about anything put it out here and I am sure there are plenty of people willing to assist you. You are not alone in your journey. Debbie

Hi Pattie, I like you are new here. I'm going to my first consult today!! I'm so excited and scared to death at the same time. I'm going through CHRIAS and can't wait to get started. Michelle

Michelle, You responded to my part of the message thread so Pattie did not get the message. But I am sure she will come back here and read it. I just wanted to say good luck to you today. I hope all goes well for you and welcome you to the boards too! There is a meeting Monday night at PMRI....Perhaps I will see you then. Debbie

Hi Pattie and welcome to the Delaware board. You are in for the ride of your life. I truly believe that this is the best thing I could have ever done for myself. Stay focused and read anything and everything about the surgery. It is better to be informed and knowledgable about this procedure then know very little, because it is definately a life changing procedure. I had my surgery in April and love everything that it has given back to me. I wish you the best of luck in your journey and know that we are here if you have any questions. Good luck with Herbalife, I did that years ago and enjoyed it while I did it. It will prepare you for the protein shakes post op. Deanna

Hello again. Thanks so much for your responses and encouragement. Glad to see many are doing well post-op. I hope (if I do this) that I have a good recovery also. Michelle, good look at your consult. I called CHIRS but they only took my insurance out of network. Hope all goes well:)
