Strange Letter from Chrias

Diane I didn't receive either of those letters. I am BC/BS and work for Christiana Care. I was hoping this didn't pertain to me, but I hear other co-workers talking about it so I guess it does pertain to me, too. I was thinking it was just a deadline thing about not signing on to BC/BS in time and was going to wait it out and call CHRIAS sometime soon in hopes of hearing that this situation has been resolved. Think I just may have to make a call afterall. I'm postop so it is not a BIG deal, but I do have to have a hernia surgery and would very much like the CHRIAS docs to do it. Dianne

Hi All, Spoke with Chrias and Independent Blue Cross, They are still in negotiations with Chrias and we should know one way or the other by September 30th whether Chrias will be out of network or not with Independent Blue Cross. If they decide to stay out of network, the patient responsibilty for the surgery/surgeon would be approx. $6,000 for a lap band and $8,000 for gastric bypass plus office visits, fills, and any other procedure necessary according to Chrias. The hospital will still be in network so their bill will be covered. I'm going to continue with my classes and appts. and if they decide to be out of network after the negotiations, I'll take my test results and clearances to another surgeon on my insurance provider list.
