Introduction.............
Hi to everyone out there who has had, waiting or exploring the wls that is out there. I'm Michelle, 42 and am exploring surgeries. I would love to have some feedback on the type of surgery you had, your loss and how you feel about (ie: would you do it again) do you feel any part of it is restrictive, or just not for you. I'm looking for honest, sincere answers to help me on my search for the best surgery for me.
Good luck to all and I look forward to hearing from you all!!
thanks
Michelle
Dee, almost 43, 13 months out from Lap RNY. Feeling frikkin fantastic!!!! Would do it again in a heartbeat. Down 90 pounds and livin my life again. No problems whatsoever (knock on wood). I do have low iron levels but I've always been borderline. I just take my extra iron and eat plenty of ruffage. Read people's webpages. That's what I did. Go to support groups too! Best info is found there.
Michelle,
Dineen is giving you great advice! You can't go wrong with any of it! I am over 2 years out....Lost 220 lbs and did it with open RNY. I have had no problems and all blood work is good! I am still losing but nothing like I did in the beginning of this process. Its nice to know you can kick it off after the honeymoon period.

Hi Michelle,
I am older than you , 52 but I feel so good. I had open rny September 28,2005 . I had a complication, an infection , and was in the hospital an extra week with antibiotics but I will tell you . I don't regret anything ! Well yes, I do have one regret, I regret that it took me so long to get up the nerve to have this surgery. I am down about 90-95 pounds and feel so much better than I did a year ago ! I recently went to see my pcp and had him check his records . The last time I weighed this was 22 years ago ! My son was 3 years old at the time. I did a lot of research about WLS and found this site. It has been so informative. If you have any questions there is usually someone on these boards that may be able to answer for you. I have always been a slow loser and even with WLS it is still slow but there has never been a time that I have lost almost a hundred pounds in less than a year. I usually would give up after losing 20 pounds and hitting my first " plateau".
Good Luck,
Sandy
Hi Michelle, now I see how you found me. I had my surgery 6 months ago and I feel great. I have lost 103 lbs so far...only about 50 left and I am on maintenance. woo hoo for me! I had to have emergency hernia and adhesion surgery in July, but that doesn't happen to everyone. It was a fluke.
I am thrilled with the way I look and feel, and the amount of weight I have lost. In the beginning it was difficult to get use to, but isn't every life changing event? And if I could go back in time, I would have done this alot sooner. Or I would have never gained the weight to begin with, but we can't change the past.
Good luck with your journey!
Jennifer
Hi Michelle Welcome to the group. I am 40-something, had GB 8/3/04 and doing great. Had a few complications -- ulcers, diverticulitis (had to go back in and be opened up) and now a hernia. My only regret? NOT DOING THIS SOONER ! In the beginning the restrictions are frustrating and there's even a period of depression. Afterall, we are giving up our best friend (FOOD). After the puree stage, it is all downhill and you are living a more active life and able to enjoy things and realize that there is a whole other life out there and you are able to jump in and live. Good luck on your journey.
