New to Delaware

Hi All. I just moved to Delaware from Camden, NJ (just outside of Philadelphia). I was wondering if anyone knows of a Support Group in the Dover area. I usually go to one in Philadelphia, but I'm trying to find something a little closer. Janine

Janine...there are a few down that area. Elisa puts the list up the first week of the month...post is called support meetings. Look down in the posts to about July 4th and you should find it. Which meeting do you attend in Phila? I do the PA Hospital one since that is where I had my surgery but I also do several of them in Wilmington. Welcome to Delaware. Debbie

Thanks Debbie. I'll go and look for that post. I attended the meeting at Univ of Penn Hospital. My surgeon was Dr. Williams. Did you happen to have Dr. Raper? I heard that he does a lot of surgeries at PA hospital. Janine

I had Dr. Matthew Kirkland....aka Hottie Surgeon! Williams was my second choice but hey it came to who would consult with me first....Kirkland pushed me up from September to April and Williams still had me at an October 2004 appt! So since I liked what I heard from Kirkland I looked no more. I guess you would know John from Brookhaven. He attends those meetings. I find that the PA hospital one is a bit big and you don't get to know people well there. I do find the smaller groups are better. The down state people are great! Please check out their meetings I am sure you will like them. One day when I get some time I plan on checking them out. Its just tough living and working up here and scooting down there for a meeting. I have heard of Raper and Dempsey. I never realized there were so many Dr's up there doing this surgery.

Yeah there are lots of surgeons in Philly doing the surgery now. Dr. Williams has a super long wait, but I'm glad I had the time to prepare myself for surgery. I have seen John at the meetings and his posts on the surgeons website. He offers a lot of support to many people. I'll miss my Philly group, but I look forward to attending some DE meetings.

Thanks Dineen. I moved to Dover for the cheap taxes!!! and less expensive homes. I live right off Rt13 so everything I need is within 10 minutes of me. I love the area!!

Janine... Welcome to Delaware. I live in slower lower Delaware...LOL...south of you. The good thing is that I am close to the beaches...the bad thing is that we are being invaded by tourists right now. I live off Hwy 1, which is great because I can walk to WAWA, the outlets and the pool is across from me. Welcome to Delaware!!
