Bone Density?

Hello Everyone: I recall reading that we should request a bone density test from our physician to get a baseline. Well, today I went to see my Gyn today for my annual and requested a bone density test and he told me it is not necessary until age 65. I explained to him about the calcium supplements we are required to take and then he ordered me a serium calcium. I didn't think that calcium could be detected from bloodwork. I am approaching my 1 year anniversary on the 19th of this month. I haven't had any problems but I do battle with fatigue. I hear so many others say that they have so much more energy and I feel the opposite. I feel like I had more energy prior to WLS. I had my bloodwork done and everything was great. Maybe it is just old age! I hope everyone is in good health and I am looking forward to making some meetings next month. I miss everyone. Kim S

Hi Dee: I have seen a surgeon but I still don't have the courage to do it just right yet. I haven't been to any meetings lately simply because I have been busy. I really do miss the talks and I found them to be very helpful. My doctor ordered a serium calcium so I am just going to go with that for right now. He said if my calcium levels are low that it will show up and he will order more tests if needed. I have been taking the Optisource 4 times per day and also have added an additional 500 mg. of calcium. The additional calcium really upsets my stomach so that is why I was wondering if I really needed it. I have been able to stablize my iron by adding the 29 mg. of Solgar Gentle Iron. Iron levels were perfect on my last bloodtest. I even managed to bring my protein up to 20........it only took me a year to do that! The weird thing about the protein was once I stopped the protein drinks my protein went up......now figure that out! I hope all is well with you and your family. Kim
