Hi All - I have a date for the lap band surgery on July 13 but my A1c is 7.5 and was told that I may not be able to have surgery on that date. Anyone else have this issue? Was told that I might have to wait until my levels are better. You know what though? I am kinda of discouraged. First off, I am like of course my A1c is not normal because I am Type II but I need this surgery to help me lose weight to hopefully get better control of this disease yet I can't have the surgery because my level is too high??? Catch 22. I cried for the first time today about all of this. It really just got to me and I am afraid that I will not be able to have surgery or something. Total pity party today. Kinda needed it I guess. I see Dr. Peters my surgeon on Wed so perhaps I will feel better after talking to him. I just needed to "talk" to the only people out there that really can relate to this whole wls business. Thanks! Nancy G.

Hi Nancy, I think mine was 7.5 also before surgery. I still received clearance. Now 2 months out it is 5.6!

Nancy Here's hoping that everything works out. Do whatever your docs say to do to change that A1c level for the better. Be diligent. Wishing for the best. Dianne
