Have been steadily gaining last 8 mos. +35# Is it possible to get back? Get off the sugar? Shrink my pouch back where it should be? Feel like I did last summer? I know I am doing nothing to help myself, all the old "i just want it" foods pass my lips, and my tummy can handle anything... and does.. I also know all the excuses in the world doesn't rationalize what I am doing to myself. Suggestions, prayers etc welcome. T

Tina, Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to...like say no to the M&M peanuts. Food is a tough thing to give up. We need it to survive but I guess our choices need to be those things we need for survival. I wish there was a magic wand that could make us all better. There isn't and that so sucks! I have put on 5 lbs....hate myself for it. Its hard dealing with life...it was so easy that first year to comply....then slippages happen and we find ourselves in bad habits again. I am going to try and step away from the breads and pasta...my big down fall and I have done too much of them this last month. Time to give up the comfort foods and get back in line. I can't exercise like I use to with my current cir****tances but I do try and walk up and down the steps more often....Why don't you try the what did I eat today post and just put it out here. Hopefully it will help you be accountable to you again! I hope things get better for you soon. Debbie

Dear Tina, Thanks for your honesty. I'm 1 & 1/2 years post-op and my weight loss has stopped. It bums me out. I, too, have found that I can eat more food. I haven't regained any weight - yet - but I'm terrified of doing so. When I was going through the classes at PMRI, I ran into someone who suggested that, when my weight plateaus, go back to basics - protein first, no more than 6g of sugar in one serving, execise every day, limit carbs, no snacking and drink 64oz of water. It works for me and cuts down the food cravings. If you really need to, consider going back to soft foods for a week. Someone told me that would help to reduce the size of a stretched pouch. I haven't tried this so check with the Dr. before you do. I'll keep you in prayer (as I do for all of us on this journey). Take care! Cassandra

Tina, Please know you are not alone in this struggle. I am 15 month out and can eat anything. I really struggle everyday to stay on track. I do find that if I write down what I eat everyday I do better. Try planning what you are going to eat. I know I can not leave it to chance. Bemember your protein, water and exercise. Try to stay between 1000-1200 calories a day. Write it down and you will be surprised at the calories you are eating. Most inportantly DO NOT BEAT YOURSELF UP !!! Make today the first day of the rest of your life. Do your best one day at a time. Go back to basics and start over. Also you can do liquid 2 days a week. You have to find what works for you. I can tell you carbs are my enemy. Stick with protein and vegetables. I wish you all the luck in this battle. You may lose a few battles but you don't have to lose the war. I look forward to hearing what you have tried and know you will get it under control. You have taken the first step by accepting and admitting you are off track. It all goes back to calories in verses calories out. My prayers are with you. You can do this but you must want it more then you want food. See you lighter. Joanne
