I am looking for a new surgeon.... someone who could actually understand what I am going through. I had my surgery in December 1998 in Seaford, DE and that doctor no longer pratices there and I hear that the other doctors in that practice no longer do the surgery. I am sick all the time and now that I am back in DE I need to find someone. I live in Rehoboth Beach but would be willing to go upstate... preferably Milford or Dover. For now I suffer from pains that feel like gut wrenching charley horses... that come at all times.. not just when I eat. It's horrible and I feel like giving up. I actually sought out specialists when we were living in Atlanta but I got the same response. They all said to go back to DE to the original doctor. No one wanted to operate on me because they don't like going behind other surgeon's work. Now that that is not feasible... I hope that there is actually a surgeon out there that can help me. I would go through this surgery again... with even a teensy chance of feeling a little better. The acid reflux is worse..burns... I feel like someone is stepping on my chest and that's scarey!! Any and all suggestions would be welcome... Thank you so much! Ria

Ria, You're right when you said your surgeon no longer practices there. He moved to Havre de Grace MD, but retired from practice a few months ago. Dr. Fullam at Upper Chesapeake has taken his place. Chris is still with the practice. The phone number if you're interested is: (443) 843-6360. We have support group meetings the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace. I travel from Dover. We'd welcome you with open arms! You do need to see a doctor about your continuing problems. You could have a hernia and you wouldn't want to strangulate your intestines. I'm having a hernia repair and tummy tuck next week up at Union Hospital in Elkton. For satisfaction, at least call Dr. Fullam's office. You can ask to speak to Chris. She probably remembers you from Seaford. Good luck and prayers. Jean

Hi Maria! Since you're very far away from Newark, DE, I'm not sure this suggestion would help. My surgeon (Dr. Isaias Irgau) is fantastic and has taken excellent care of me. He's the best doctor I've ever worked with (for any issue). He's part of CHRIAS (Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery). Phone # is (302) 892-9900. Perhaps they could direct you to a doctor closer to your area whom Dr. Irgau thinks is a good choice. Hope you get the medical support that you need. Take care! Cassandra
