Hi All - yikes, I am working with CHRIAS and Dr. Peters. I got a call from PMRI and was told that BEFORE I could make my appt - psychologist, medical, nutritionist, dietician, etc. I had to pay them $500 plus then pay another $500 plus at the end of testing and classes. I have BCBS of DE and knew some of this would be out of pocket but did not know I had to pay in two lump sums and one of them before I could make appts. CHRIAS said they were not aware of this and suggested St. Francis which may be as low as $400 plus and will work with me on financing. I wanted to go to Christiana hosp only because I have never gone to St. Francis. Have any of you experienced this $1000 plus requirement from PMRI? I know it is contingent upon your insurance but thought I would ask. Those of you who went through St. Francis - were you satisfied with the program? TIA Nancy G.

I went thru PMRI for a cost of $1,200 (if I remember correctly) and continue my follow up there and am very pleased that I did. I have BC/BS which did cover some of my cost there but yes there is a up front pocket cost. Even at St Francis there is a up front pocket cost. All tax deductable of course. Insurance has paid for a great percentange except me paying my deductable at each visist which in turn sure did add up.

Hi Sharon: I like it over at PMRI - I go to Kathy Donohue Smith for my diabetes. I just don't have that kind of extra cash right now. I just talked to St. Francis and it costs $400 for the whole program. If the psychologist is not on the BCBSDE list, I will have to pay that out of pocket. I can handle this price tag much better. Thanks for you input. Nancy G.

I also paid my $1200. Nice to see the costs are coming down. I would check into the Psych. They might accept a clearance from someone who is in your network and covered by your insurance. It wouldn't hurt to ask. The worst they could say is no.
