Topic: Join ME in Lexington! Oct 27/28
Hello, I'm excited to report that I'll be at the Lexington event coming up on October 27 & 28. :horse: I've had a few questions asked about the convention and wanted to make sure everyone knew the answers. The conventions are not just open to post-ops. This is a time for pre-ops, post-op, undecided, new & old members to the family to come together for support, but also most importantly, to meet real people. Many people on the boards have known each other for years and get excited to be meeting for the first time. EVERYONE is welcome and the more the merrier. This is open to all people, spouses, surgery types, etc. We are just as excited to meet new members, as well as older established members. That's how you get to know someone - you come out to meet them. So you all are invited! :jump: If you have any questions please let me know and I'll find the answer if I don't know. The event on Friday night will consist of a Masquerade ball and social time. So be creative, I don't know what I'm going to wear yet. :ninja: Costume's are optional, casual is fine. We hope you will make this special event, we will be having a vast variety of speakers. Also some other many SPECIAL guests! For a full line up of speakers, schedule and to register by going here: http://obesityhelp.com/events/october2006_lexington.html If you register before the 27th of September both days are $85.00. I look forward to meeting many new friends and old! Amy

Topic: RE: Anyone out there???
I'm here! I am now going thru the process of trying to get approval for a lap-band procedure. I saw a psychiatrist yesterday, for the mental health clearance, and I see my primary care provider today. I would love to hear about your experience. I also hope to have my surgery at GW. Did yours go well?

Topic: Celebration on the Hill 2006
Hi all, Celebration on the Hill 2006 is an American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network event celebrating cancer survivorship and empowering survivors and others to advocate for laws that will help fight the disease. On September 19-20, 2006, nearly 4,000 American Cancer Society "Celebration Ambassadors" will gather in Washington, DC for Celebration on the Hill 2006--a unique event that will show our country's lawmakers how the American Cancer Society is waging the fight against cancer in communities nationwide. I was chosen as an Ambassador last year, and as an advocate I am personally sending a message to our government that now is not the time to cut funding for cancer research. 4,000 Celebration Ambassadors will represent every state and every congressional district in the country; 5,000 American Cancer Society Wall of Hope banners will represent every Relay For Life event in the nation; and the 3 million signatures on those banners will represent every American ever touched by cancer. The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life Wall of Hope will be the largest temporary monument ever constructed in our nation's capital. Remembering those lost to cancer, those still fighting and those who have survived the battle, the monument will speak most loudly to our hope that a cure is close at hand. While survivors and volunteers gather in Washington D.C., hundreds of thousands more, inspired by the effort, will participate and celebrate at home making Celebration on the Hill a truly national event and a historic marker in our nation's war on cancer. You can join Celebration at home by clicking this link and seeing what you can do that day at home http://www.celebrationonthehill.org/celebrationonthehomefront.asp. I am proud to be a part of this awesome event and hope that you will take a part in it as well. If you live in or around Washington plan to come down to the National Mall at 7:00 pm on the 20th for the Luminaria ceremony. If you've ever been to a Relay For Life in your community you know what an awesome experience this is...just image it on a national level. You can also learn more about Celebration on the Hill at www.celebrationonthehill.org. and If you would like to get involved with the Cancer Action Network check out www.acscan.org. Thanks and I'll be sure to send everyone a link to my photos from Celebration when it's done. All my best, Debra

Topic: Throw out the spinach
WASHINGTON (AP) - Consumers nationwide should not eat fresh bagged spinach, say health officials probing a multistate outbreak of E. coli that killed at least one person and made dozens of others sick. Food and Drug Administration and state officials don't know the cause of the outbreak, although raw, packaged spinach appears likely. "We're advising people not to eat it," said Dr. David Acheson of the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition It was reported a few minutes ago to throw out all bagged spinach! Hugs, Sandyd

Topic: RE: Any info on Dr. Afram?
Hi You might want to post this to surrounding state boards as well as he has many patients that come from neighboring states - Virginia, Maryland, etc. His patient reviews are posted here (in case you enjoy reading those - I did ): http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeon+reviews+Joseph+Afram+c.html Best of wishes, ~Tooter
