Topic: Charles Town WV...Meet and Greet
As you all know... I  am playing a Meet and Greet for the MD/DC/NY/NJ/WV/VA/DE Area... So far I have gotten some positive feedback on BAF/MF and Via e-mail alone with phone calls... I want to thank everyone who has been so positive alone with the ones who were not... you have been an inspiration to my soul...

After speaking with a FEW GOOD people... I have decided to plan a Meet and Greet in Charles Town WV at the Charles Town Races and Slots...  Then was thinking that maybe we can have a BIG BBQ or something in my backyard...  I have the space... LOL...

I might just rent out a club house or something... I don't know...

This Casino has wonderful food and it's a nice place to go if you haven't already been...
So far this is all I have at this time... We will be getting all the information out on BAF and MF as we begin more planning... I am making it  my business to make sure this  is a success,,,

Everyone is invited and if you don't want to come... thats fine...  I don't care if 5 people shows... that would be 5 more people that I know that I didn't...

Have a Blessed Day...

Topic: WLS LW Forum
Here is our creed, if you fit this you are a wls LW and we hope you will join us on the LW forum Here is the link http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/wls_lightweights/ The Lightweight Creed (Created and approved by members of the OH Light-Weights Forum, Jan 2008)

I am a Lightweight. I am only one of many others like me. Together, we are a team. Though our journeys and choices may be different, we are bonded together by the commonality of being Lightweights and the strategies, successes and struggles that entails. It is this bond that defines this board.

I began my journey with a BMI of less than 45 and/or with less than 150 lbs excess weight. My lower BMI and excess weight does in no way make me less deserving of medical intervention, and I should not be made to feel inferior or guilty.

I qualified for WLS because I have co-morbidities, or because my medical history proves that my weight is diet and exercise resistant.

I have worked with my healthcare team to determine the best surgical option for me. I am confident that others have done so as well, so I will refrain from passing judgments.

I will freely share the most accurate information I have, as well as my own personal journey and why I chose my surgery in an informative, educational and respectful way so that others may learn from my experiences.

I respect the decisions of my fellow Lightweights, regardless of the surgery they chose and the nutritional/exercise plans they follow.

I will always promote health and a healthy lifestyle, whether physical or mental; and will respect alternate methods and views toward achieving good health, even if I do not espouse them personally.

I will always be sensitive, honest and respectful when contributing to discussions on this board and in my PMs. I will never flame, demean, invalidate or harass others for their questions or decisions. I will remember, at all times, the difficulties and pain I went through on my own journey and be considerate of others when discussing theirs.

I will always defend and unite with my fellow Lightweights against prejudice and hostility.

I understand it is my responsibility to report offensive conduct to my fellow Lightweights, so that we may deal with offending parties as a united front to preserve the supportive and tolerant atmosphere of our board.

I understand that if my conduct becomes offensive, I will not be welcome to participate on this board any longer.

Topic: RE: CALLING ALL GW-HOSPITAL PATIENTS
I had my surgery done by Dr Afram and I think he is a very skilled dr.  That and only that was my concern.  His bedside manner, not fabulous, but he always answered my questions and his staff is and was very, very considerate and accomodating.  So all experiences are obviously different.  It just matters what you find to be important.  As far as GW Hospital.  IT SUCKS.  However, MOST of the nursing staff are good people.  The room itself left much to be desired.  It smelled of urine and my husband had to ***** people out to get it cleaned before I came in.  They did however let my husband sleep over both nights despite the rules.  So that was nice.   Overall I've lost 135 pounds and I'm 79 weeks out.  I feel great and haven't had ONE complication. Good luck in whatever choice you make!

Topic: RE: Plastics with Dr. Paul Ruff
Hi heart2heart!  I am new to the forum and also considering Dr. Ruff.  Would be interested in hearing if you got recommendations, responses, or have any thoughts.  I have yet to meet him -- I go in for a consult Friday this week.  I have also met with Dr. Haven Barlow at Fairfax, and Ricardo Rodriguez in Baltimore. Thanks! Amy

I actually think their behavior towards me was because I didn’t weigh as much as the other people. I’m apparently considered a light weight so Dr. Afram didn’t care what I had to say and I guess I took offense to that. As soon as I told him my height and weight he tuned me out. I assumed he thought I was lookin for an easy way out or wanted WLS for cosmetic reasons but he didn’t give me the time of day to tell him how sick I was. How many medications I was on and that my doctor felt that it was necessary. My dad had Dr. Afram and looks great, lost all his weight and had no complications so far. He’s a year out. I’m glad your experience was good, I guess I’ll just take my experience with a grain of salt and move on.
