Topic: RE: the sleeve
I had the Duodenal Switch in April which is two parts: the sleeve and the switch (involves intestinal changes). I really like the restriction of the sleeve and I'm so glad I have my pyloric valve still. I can drink with meals without worrying about pushing the food through and I can take NAIDS (like Advil and Tylenol). You may want to google it so you are not just relying on the info you get from a few of us here. You can also go to the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Board and ask some questions there.

Right now my favorite is Champion Whey Stack in Chocolate. I think it tastes great and doesn't have that weird protein taste that is part of most. I also like Nectar--fuzzy navel flavor. You can buy both f these at Vitamin Shoppe. Also, if you want to try a whole bunch of different kids, Vitalady sells samples for $2. (www.vitalady.com)
I hope you find something you like!

you should see someone else. I go to Dr Robles in middletown and my incision had some ooze stuff on the bottom. I'm only 2 weeks out they said its because I'm not getting enough protein so they advanced me. But your further along and should be healed you should definitely let someone else look at it good luck . Shoreline surgical is in middletown if thats closer not sure.

Congrats on your anniverary! I'm a fellow long time outter too...had my lap RNY in 2004 and basically have kept my weight off. I originally lost 85 lbs and gained back between 6-8 lbs. I am now working with a wonderful nutritionist/personal trainer to try to get some more weight off. Be proud of your accomplishment!

Lousanna,
Liz has been with Dr. Bell for a very long time and is very competent! Don't worry, they will be sure everything is handled appropriately. I had my lap RNY 6 years ago and it was with Dr. Bell. I would do it again in a NY minute! That group is the best there is! I see Dr. Bell next week for my yearly exam. I had a question and emailed him the other day. Within 10 minutes he replied. There is no other group like them. You'll love them, and they will follow you forever, unlike some of the other groups. Good luck, and congrats on starting your new life.

Go see another doctor. My friend had surgery w/Valin and he never saw her again. His wife is the only one who will see her. She had a sleeve done and is miserable, cannot eat anything that is good for her without it getting stuck.
Check out Dr. Robert Bell at Yale and his group. They are awesome and will never steer you wrong. Good luck, and get seen ASAP!

I'm also going for the sleeve procedure at Midstate Hospital in Meriden. Currently am going thru all the pre op requirements. I researched it quite a bit and feel it is the best option for me as well and I can not wait I am so excited!
