I switched to Dr just about a year ago.. Last year at this time I had some major issues taking place & it's just now starting to get straightened out under Dr R's care.
My issues.. were not caused by my RNY.. but by carelessness.  I trust Dr R.. something.. I didn't have with my former Dr.
I wouldn't change a thing with deciding to have RNY surgery.. just thankful I have a Dr. who is "Top-Notch" and knows his stuff inside & out.

hey there mimi...i've had a very, very difficult time since my original suregery in nov. 04, but had the great fortune to meet with dr. r.  last year--a scant three months before i perofrated again, mother's day 08--hav ing said that, i LOVE dr. r.  you REALLY are in good hands. i wouldn't recommend this surgery (RNY) UNLESS you're going with dr. r...so trust that you've selected the right surgeon who truly truly truly not only cares about you, but is amazingly skilled. i wish you all hte very best, and i look forward to seeing you on theother side. i was 347 and am now about 149  (135 is best for me, i'm 5-8) but i have no regrets with him. we as his patients really and truly are very very lucky...hugs, me!

hey there...i have had so many problems since my first surgery with the butcher, but last year went with Dr. R...i LOVE him. he is honestly CONCERNED about you, your health, your future. i didn't feel like a cog in an assembley line. i've got issues now that i believe are really common to us RNY patients, and i will have to deal iwth them. i trust Dr. R. because I know he truly, truly, truly is a top-notch surgeon. i will do whatever he tells me, and that's saying alot because my life is in his hands. i've got ahusband and a child, and i want to live, and for me to turn it over to him really is a big deal. i was so severely screwed by the butcher that i felt i couldn't trust doctors, and dr. r. has restored my faith. so listen, closely and seriously, to him.

Topic: RE: any good protein drinks-what to have on hand at home after RNY
i only like (and frankly, like is really a generous description) the syntrax fuzzy navel. to me, it tastes exactly like tang. the good thing is you can get 100 grams of whey protein for 360 calories. my only recommendtion is that you drink it super cold, with ice...i do 2 scoops, for 50 grams each , at 180 cals per drink. but the thing is, you MUST do it! it will help you heal faster. if you know anyone who can igve you a sample, that's best. but it does taste like tang.

Topic: abdominal hernia?
Hey folks...i"m about 10 months out from a total revision due to perforations...i have what appears to be a hernia: a significant bulge to the right of my (open) incision line. i've had diarrarah or loose stools (SORRY SO GRAPHIC!) for about a week, and what i woudl describe as a stinging pain. anyone else experience this, and do you think it's likely a hernia? i have job issues and worry about having to be out of work for weeks. any experiences, advice, etc. woudl really be welcome. thanks!
