I wish you much success on your journey,  I think we all have last minute doubts/nerves. Be sure to follow your doctors plan, take your vitamins and get in your protein and fluid. It will be heard at first, but it does get easier.

I don't think it matters which prcedure you are going to have ....it comes with pre jitters. I'm nervous about the whole thing (having rny) and I don't even have a date yet. As with all things,  be patient, be honest, and give it your all. Best of luck.............You will be fine and will do great on your journey!!

I understand that it really depends on your BCBS policy, but I have BCBS through my employer. I did the seminars and the paperwork for authorization was submitted last Monday. They had the authorization by tuesday afternoon.

If you are going to Dr Valin, we are probably having our surgery in the same place. I chose Dr Yood based on many recommendations and personal knowledge from my prior work as a Patient Advocate.

That is good news!

So sorry to hear about your MIL.  I can only imagine your husband's fears.  After you meet with Dr. Aranow and if you decide to move forward with Lap Band, you might share the safety profile of the Band.  While your weight loss might be slower, it is a very safe surgery (my primary goal, too!).  Many people bring a spouse or friend to the LapBand support group meeting, which might help, too. 

Feel free to ask me ANYTHING that you are concerned about.  I can honestly say that the surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself!  Good luck with your decision!
