My brothers friend had this happen to him. I heard it's a common risk with the band.

Topic: my band has slipped
Just wondering if anyone out there has had this same issue. I am 4 years out from my lap band, was doing great had lost 90 pounds. The beginning of this year I noticed that my weight was starting to creep up and I could eat much more than I should. Then I started to experience severe reflux to where it would wake me up at night then the vomiting started. I ended up having a endoscopy just recently for the second time, this time done by my band Dr. and he found the band has slipped. It has slipped to where it was pushing against my esophagus which was causing the reflux. Because of this, I now have my band deflated, which is so scary because I have already gained too much weight back. My doctor did say that most people that this happends to, they end up having to go back in to have the band put back.
Has anyone had to deal with this before or does anyone know someone who has. I need help.

Just wanted to 'weigh in' on Dr. Duffy....can't say enough about him...
But one word of advice to you pre-ops out there....LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS....you might not like what he has to say at times but he knows what he is talking about...stick with what he tells you and you will be successful. I really didn't want to listen to his exercise mantra (60 minutes 6 days a week) and at 298 pounds I thought he was insane...but I started out small and now I can do over an hour of cardio 6 days a week...I have lost 104 pounds since surgery (7 months out)....I really think for a lot of people exercise is a key component to the success of this surgery.
I wish you all well in your endeavors to join us all on the 'losers bench'.....For those of you at the Yale, if you ever have any questions....please let me know....I attend the monthly meetings at the Temple Medical facility the first Tuesday of every month.
Best of luck,
Courtney

Yes have gone for my two week check up and they approve you for soft foods and then meats weekly..
The staff at Yale was good, they give you all the pain meds you want, which was good for me. They are pretty attentive. I was scared too and am still scared..lol But you'll do just fine!

Raven, That's great! It sounds like you had a great experience! I am very happy for you. Have you gone in for your 2 week checkup yet?
Well, I am leaving for New Haven in a bit because today is preop day! This time next week I will be on the other side also! I love hearing from you because you are 3 weeks ahead of me and I can see what's coming and time goes by faster.
Oh yeah, was Duffy great and the care at Yale? I am so excited and a little scared. I am really do doing this!?

Topic: RE: support groups
We have a small but loyal group of post-op peers (bothe RNY and banded) that meet at Norwalk Hospital on the first Wednesday and the third Monday of every month. All meetings start at 6 p.m. in the First Floor Volunteer Conference Room, are free and you don't need to pre-register.
These meetings are peer-lead and are a forum to share your struggles, gain perspective from one another and encourage your peers.
All are welcome.

Topic: TAMMY...Thursday, May 28th and Dr. R.
Hi Tammy,
I work at St. Francis and will also (hopefully) be having surgery with Dr. R. I have completed all of my pre-op testing and will be meeting with him on June 3rd.
My question for you is this....what time is you appointment on the 28th? Would you like to meet for coffee before or after your appointment?
You can reach me at my personal email or my St. Francis voice mail which is : (860) 714-6884.
I work for the department of anesthesia and before I decided to go with Dr. R. I researched all of the doctors who perform the GBP in the state and several doctors out-of-state.
Let me know!!
