Don't let things go to far if you continue to have difficulty drinking due to the throat pain. Let you surgeon know.

Hope you feel better really soon.

Dr. Bell is the best-I saw 5 other surgeons in both the Hartford, Middletown, and New Haven area-I was even scheduled for the Band.  I liked the idea of the VSG-you don't have to go for fills with the band.  I was told that the bypass was not recommended for me, due to a chronic medical problem by 3 other surgeons-yet a St Francis doc wanted to do it anyhow, and refused to discuss the VSG.  Dr. Bell is thorough, yet does not make you go through unnecessary testing-he evaluates you and then decides what you need.  The reason he has the psy, and nutrition done first is to see if you are a candidate for the surgery.  When you see him he does not rush you-spends all time you need, and answers all your questions.  His nurse is not very pleasant-she is very condesending, and is like an Army sargent=but Dr Bell is the best, and has been doing the VSG since it was in trials for weight loss.  I would suggest you go to the Tuesday meetings-he is always there, and will talk to you then.  In the meantime I would get everything to him-you can just ask Aranow's office for copies of the psy and nutrition eval.  Have them send them to you, and then send them on to Dr. bell-make copies for your records.  Once they take you on-they will call you with a group meeting date, and then it moves forward-I was at the group meeting in his office in November, and was schedule for January surgery-insurance was a problem, so had to postpone until April, but his office fought for me.  Good luck-of all the surgeons I interviewed he is the best.  Post op when I had a question I emailed him, and he responded within 1-2 hours.

Thanks for the email Dianna!  I had my lap rny 6-1 and went home wed.  I have felt pretty yuckky and whiney also.  I am not in any pain either but feel crummy.  Been on a few walks today. Today is better than yesterday.  I think they give too much pain meds out at hospital.  I will write again

Not because of my surgery, I caught a virus in my throat...I can't swallow, the pain is incredible, worse than any after the surgery!

I'm worried I'm going to get dehydrated again...

Thanks for reading!

Thanks Nancy!

I plan on hitting up the Dept of Labor next week to keep my mind busy & start revamping my resume.
Definately don't want to be a manager again.. I've been in management for about 10 years & I'm burnt out.. (Unless a perfect job "fit" came along).

Just want to manage myself for awhile.. LOL..

It's only been 4 days & I'm stir crazy... I'm hoping to have something lined up by late Sept... October (earlier if possible) once the college kids go back to school.

I do feel soooo much better since the tune up with my blood.. hopefully whatever took place will stay absorbed.. I go back to the hemotologist  in August & I see Dr. R next month for a check up.

I do notice & catching my self "grazing" at night... (all good foods but still a no-no) I know it's the stress & a touch of depression...  so need to reign that in quickly.

Waiting for my husbands insurance to kick in so I can get other appointments out of the way & resume seeing my therapist....

Such bad timing with all this.. bleck... but it'll pass.

Hugs,
Mickey

Mickey, so sorry to hear about your job, but glad your health is getting better.

It is a tough time to be unemployed but there are jobs out there. I just reentered the workforce after a long layoff and am glad that I had the time off and happy that I was able to find something. Use this down time to focus on yourself and your health.

Topic: Protein Giveaway
 Hi everyone...

Being three weeks post-op I have have tried my share of protein shakes and powders. I also know they can be pretty expensive if you buy something that you like one day...and don't the other.

I have several things I would like to give away to someone who could really use them. I have a few protein sources that didn't sit right with me and I would hate for them to go to waste...especially when they could work for someone else!

If you are in CT (either local to me in Norwich) or on the other side..I could either meet you or ship it to you. It wouldn't cost that much..and honestly I paid good money and do not want it to go to waste.

I have a list. It could go to one person..or I don't mind splitting it up between two.

Money is tight for everyone...just doing my part

1lb bag of GNC Pro Performance (resealable)
Unflavored
Two scoops missing
21g of protein a scoop.

1lb bag of GNC Pro Performance (resealable)
Vanilla
Two scoops missing
21g of protein a scoop

GNC Pro Performance 50 Grand Slam (please note, this is currently refrigerated)
Very Vanilla
Unopened
50 grams of protein a can

4 Atkins Advantage Shakes (please note, these are currently refrigerated)
2 Vanilla and 2 Strawberry
Unopened
15g of protein a box

I hope I can help someone out. If you don't want to reply in the thread, feel free to send me a message!

Jessie
