I wish you much success on your journey. You are in good hands with Dr. R. I am almost 2 years out and have not had any issues.
Key to success is to follow his plan which may seem stricter than others on the board, but it works!
Good Luck!
Nancy

A group of us down at the shoreline put together a support group on facebook and have had several meetings, but they haven't been very regular. Always looking for new venue's.
Although I attend support group at St. Francis I am looking for more post op support!
Look forward to meeting you.
Nancy

I hope a few of us can get together one day, it's nice to know that we are going through the same life changing process.
Keep it up!
Check out the 20's board. Looks like an active group over there.
Good luck to you.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
A physician has a responsibility to know the facts. We both experienced doctors spouting ignorance.
The National Institutes for Health (NIH) website is all they need to read to give a cursory explanation of the true stats on re-gain. In addition, these same docs are well aware that failure rates without surgical intervention is about 95%.
Even if a full half of wls patients gain it all back, chances of success after surgery are still doubled. These basics slipped the minds of your doc and mine
Hi!
I hope I am posting this in the right area.
My name is Taylor, age 20. I recently made the decision to have weight loss surgery at Saint Francis Hospital. I am currently in the process going to all of pre-surgery consultations and I will meet with Dr. Raftopolous in mid January.
Please feel free to ask questions, I am new to this so there is a lot I need to learn, and I am willing to do so.
I wish to be happy and healthy, and I hope the same for you all. Take care!

Hi All,
There is a new OH Online Support Group. The above link will get you there.
It's called Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions.
This group discusses the issue of transfer addictions (also known as cross addictions) after weight loss surgery. there are millions of people who have undergone gastric bypass who are now dealing with issues of addiction transfer.
For a number of people, giving up overeating leads to adoption of a new compulsion.
Addiction transfer occurs when someone is unable or unwilling to rely on one compulsion (for us, it was food) and so switches to a new compulsion (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, internet, porn, etc) due to not having dealt with the underlying issue behind the compulsion.
***Please feel free (and safe) to join and discuss any and/all issues you have regarding Transfer Addiction. ***
WE WILL SUPPORT EACH OTHER WITHOUT JUDGEMENT!
