He is very confident and VERY stern - he wants you to do EXACTLY what he tells you to do - for example he told me he wants me at a GYM working out on a treadmill - and he gets annoyed when I tell him I am working out at home - I know he wants the best for his patients - I want the best for me too! He is unbelievable with his follow-up after surgery - I had lap band with Dr. Barba and he never once called me - Dr. R was there right after surgery - came to my room in the hospital and called me for 3 straight days after - he wanted to know how much I drank, how my drain was, etc. - extremely thorough - I have complete trust and confidence in his abilities as a surgeon - I think the man is brilliant. He is definitely not a warm and fuzzy person - but he doesn't have to be - you can feel confident in your decision with him as a surgeon - his office staff is also great and I adore Judy the nutrionisht - she's the BEST!!!

Best of luck on your journey!!
Warm Regards - Tammy -

I had RNY with Dr. R on 10/13/09. I LOVE him!

His bedside manner may come off a little hard at first, but this is only because he wants the BEST outcome for you. He wants you to realize this surgery is not the quick easy fix some people think it is and it requires hard work and commitment from both you and him, before and after surgery.

His preop testing is extensive, but again because he wants the best results.

My boyfriend came with me to my preop visits because he was nervous about the surgery (more so than I was lol). After listeneing to him speak with great confidence about the surgery, post op follow-ups and everything else, my bf was relieved I had chosen Dr. R.

His contact with the patient after discharge is AMAZING! He calls you at least once a day the first few days your home (make sure you know how much you have had to drink), and you also get his personal pager number to use if needed. I used it on the Saturday after I was dicharged and got a call back from him within a half hour!

I can't wait to see him on 1/14 for my 3 month check up!

I went to Dr. R's information session, and was really impressed with him.  Does anyone have any first hand feedback about him one way or the other?  Thanks!

It has come to my attention that some OH Members think our group is closed to the geographical location of Central Connecticut when in truth is open to anyone who would like  access to some a place for fun, function and fantasy  or just want to learn more about WLS both Pre or Post Ops.

Please join us. The more active members we have the more we can be active in our lives and friendships.

A WLS veteran once told me "This surgery will change your life in ways you never imagined"  and I am grateful everyday.   I "Conceived, Believed and Achieved it...Now it it Maintain, Maintain,Maintain.   That is why CCCares was created.

By all means we are open to anyone who wants and need the support for WLS.  It is a struggle everyday and we know it.   Hopefully once we get going we hope it becomes a bi weekly meeting along with a whole lot of fun stuff thrown in .

Please join the group too and this way you won't miss a thing.

That sounds like so much fun.  I'm not in central CT but I hope all are welcome cause I'll try to make it.  I would love to see this board liven up.   There are some good people here.
