Topic: RE: band to sleeve revision with anthem blue cross blue shield of CT

I'm happy to say that after a level 2 appeal, Anthem overturned their decision.  They agreed that my revision was medically necessary.  I had to hire Walter Lindstrum who is an attorney who specializes in bariatric surgery.  In the end, I'm going to have the gastric bypass with less intestine bypassed than they do in the regular procedure.  I have some scar tissue from the band and didn't want to risk the severe reflux with the sleeve.  The surgeon was also convinced that I would eat too much with the sleeve because it is so much larger than the pouch.

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!

Hi

I wanted to thank everyone for posting all the information  regarding The Sleeve and their personal  Stories and Quests

for a new life,,,,, I am a Medicaid  Pt and  Dr Papasavas and the Hartford Healthcare medical Group  happy to say

does take Medicaid!! YaY  My Journey has just begun and yes you do have to jump through a lot of  Hoops but

you have to show that  you are willing to work for this life changing experience -- I  have to go to 6 months of Nutrition

classes over a 6 month Period -- there are Cardiologist/Pulminary Drs - Endoscopy Dr -- Colonoscopy Scheduled/ Sleep

study Scheduled -- Blood work - Mamagram -- and a visit to my Primary -- yes there are a lot of hoops but totally worth the Journey --- it will take 6 months and then another month after approval -- so dont think is just a few months because its not but this Group is EXCELLENT!  Call the Weight Loss Surgical Center -- they have office all over -- Glastonbury -- Hartford - South Windsor - Enfield - IIm sure a lot of other towns as well -- go to the Seminar and learn about what your interested in -- Dr P and his staff are the best!!

This Journey started in July 2013  and will end up in a Surgery Date of most likely February 2013 or March 2013.  Good Luck to Everyone!!

Topic: RE: Insurance Questions,etc!
I know this is an older post, but I live in Waterbury and have decided to have WLS. I am going through a Center of Excellence in Hartford. The surgeons are Dr. Tishler and Dr. Papasavas. I have met them both at my education seminar and they seem great! I have my consult on Aug 5th with Dr. Papasavas.

As for insurance, there really is NO way anyone else can tell you what is covered for your plan unless they work at the same place. We could both have the same insurance provider and I could be covered and you not. It's something the employer decides when they choose the plan.

Good luck!

Topic: 9 Years Ago Today, I was given a New Life

Nine years ago today, Dr. Bell, gave me a tool that gave me my life back!  I am happy to say that I have maintained my 100 lb weight loss and am at my lowest weight.  It has been a fabulous journey...at times so darn hard, I didn't think I could do it.  At other times, it was the greatest feeling in the world to once have been a size 22/24 and to now fit into a size 10! I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Bell for his talent.  Although he left CT, he still holds a special place in my heart and always will.

For anyone considering WLS, PLEASE do it!  It will be the best thing you can do for you.

Congrats on the baby! That's def a blessing since you'd have to wait two years to even think of getting pregnant!

That doesn't seem difficult at all! I'm actually searching for a new PCP today so hopefully I can get the ball rolling since my SO wants to do it too! I'm excited!!!!

Everything went well! There are a lot of things you have to do before you get approved. With me I had no underling health issue that I was aware of, and order to get approved you have to be obese with at least 1 health issue (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apena, ect) I thought I had none. But they sent me for a sleep study and i had mild sleep apena and I was in. You have to visit a nutritionist once a month every month for 6 months and if you miss a visit you have to start over. Everything else is pretty easy. I cannot continue because I found out I was pregnant and they cannot weigh me at the nutritionist visit because I’m pregnant so it doesn’t count. As soon as I have the baby I can start my visits over. Hoped this help let me know if you need any help or have questions. Good luck! kiss
