Topic: I am taking it all off!!!
Hi, everyone!

Happy 2010! I hope the new year is treating you all very well.

I’m going to shave my head - for the fourth time -  and I need your support! Why? You know why! I’m taking it all off to raise money for childhood cancer research – going bald in solidarity with kids battling this terrible disease.

The poor hairs on my head will find themselves forcibly ejected on Saturday, March 6th as part of this year's St. Baldrick's Day organization event.  Please help me reach my goal of a thousand dollars by then both to justify this bodacious decision, and to fund as much research as possible!

More than 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year. Despite tremendous progress, cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada. I’m out to help change that! Team Brent - of which I am proud to be a member - continues to be the top fund-raising St. Baldrick's Team in the world, raising over $3 million, one head at a time.

Since St. Baldrick’s began in 2000, shavees like me have helped raise more than $69 million, enabling the organization to grow into the world’s largest fundraising event for childhood cancer. The Foundation made more than $12 million in grants last year alone, to some of the top pediatric cancer researchers working today, and also to many young doctors who will be the research experts of tomorrow.

Children fighting cancer lose not only their hair but precious years from their childhood, and sometimes their lives. Compared to a child’s struggle, shaving my head is a small sacrifice, and your gift can help save lives.

Thank you in advance if you are able to help and, most of all, for you continued support!

Topic: RE: anyone have Dr Papasavas from Hartford Hosp?
I had surgery with him on December 17, 2009.  I have to say that I really like him.  He has a gentle demeanor, and he is clearly very skilled.  My surgery could not have been easier.  I was fully prepared with what was in store for me thanks to him and the staff at Ct Surgical Group.  He and his staff are always helpful and responsive to my concerns and questions - which is not always the case at every medical establishment.

If you have any other specific questions...feel free to ask!

Good luck.

I haven't had my surgery yet, but met with him this week.  He is very knowledgable and answered all of my questions.  One of my friends had surgery done with Dr. Tischler and is very happy with the group.

Michelle,
Does anyone in your family have osteo arthritis?  I think it runs in families.  My Mom has it terrible and I do too.  BUT losing my weight has made it better.  I can feel it again if I just put on a few more pounds.  So it's a real incentive to maintain my weight loss.  I was really handicapped with it at 281 lbs. . . . could barely walk.  I was popping Ibuprofens like candy.  Now I don't take anything and I can run!
The best thing to do is go see an orthopedic doctor, get your MRIs done.  It could be that you damaged them and don't remember doing it.
Thoughts are with you.

Topic: CCCares Group "Bra and Tummy Tucker" Fitting Workshop
I am have been talking to a woman who has a business doing Bra Fitting and Tummy Tucking    She is very knowledgeable about WLS special needs and how to camouflage it to the public eye.

I would like to plan a workshop but she is only available Monday or Friday Nights.   I am asking those ladies who would be interested in attending to give me an idea what would be a good evening.    Of course we could plan a 2nd or 3rd  workshop if the interest warrants it.

I'm not sic-ing anyone on anyone. But it COULD be done by the "aggrieved parties", shall we say.  I, too, and everyone else who has posted here, can back up what they say. We've offered to. We've told our experiences here. You, nada. Just talk and hot air.

(shrugs)  Frankly, I'm bored with you and am off to find more interesting discourses to engage in.

I can not give you advice on knee problems I can only give my input on a diabetic related foot problem called Charcots Foot.

Basically Charcots is related to diabetic neuropathy ... the nerve damage causes the muscles in the foot both the ankle and the arch.   The calcium is being reabsorbed and causes the arch to actually start to break.. (You can hear your bones crack.  it sounds like cracking knuckles)

If untreated the arch will collapse and if your lucky the arch will refuse in a upside down manor and causes the bottom of the foot to look like a rocking chair bottom.

I am very grateful for the Internet because in doing research I took control and did what I thought would help.    By the time I got to a doctor the damage was done.  and he put me on Lycra. for the pain.

I found on the Internet the supplement Called Alpha Lipoic Acid  which is an antioxidant and used in diabetics  for nerve damage and glucose metabolism.  I took ALA and 1200 units of Calcium a day and the response has been for me miraculous.

My 1st foot doctors put me on Lyrcia for pain.  My 2nd tried a $750 brace for my right foot, 350 orthotic on my left foot.  I walked with a can and $120 shoes  I used a cane and a scooter to go shopping.        The 2nd doctor was impressed with the look of the foot and was impressed with the stability of t ...

Then in deciding to do the WLS... I bought a pair of crocs to walk into the pool with and to take a shower.  Guess what the crocs molded to my foot and then I could actually fit into a pair of sneaker then a pair of Easy Spirits.    and Last weekend I WHEN HIKING   AND DANCING........CAN YOU IMAGINE  ..I believe the WLS, ALA and Calcium and Pool are my savior.....I am grateful

Bottom line do your research and find out how, what, why and be your own advocate...
Good Luck Gloria .

I have no idea of what the heck is going on, all I know is that I too was told I had to see one of the Flocks and at first was told that FB would not give Dr. E's number.... later they changed their song... guess their lawyers were working then.... as for Dr. E being money hungry... I do not have health insurance and he sees me at no cost....FOR YEARS!!!!  and anytime I saw him personally he has been very caring and attentive....  I wish we knew exactly what went on... Dr. E's office did not bad mouth the Flocks as the Flocks have Dr. E... I guess you must attack when you feel inferior...
Hope it all gets resolved soon! For the sake of every patient and Dr.s

Larry, GET A LIFE! You show too much hate for a former Dr. E patient... some does not add up here... GROW UP and MAN UP! We all are who we are here... you are a fake!
GOD IS MY STRENGTH!!!
