Plastic Surgeon Visit

Hello Everyone, I went to see a local plastic surgeon and really enjoyed the experience. She was very kind, knowledgable, and understood my needs completely. She works primarily with reconstructive surgery for the breast/tummy area and during her residency she primarily worked on gastric bypass patients. (something I wasn't aware of.) She spent a good 1 1/2 hours with me & my husband answering my questions/concerns going over the procedure in detail, recovery, and expectations. She left nothing out. She took pictures of me...(in my glory..LOL) showed me what she could do to fix all my skin that is heading south for the winter...and made me feel REALLY good and confident in my decision to have the surgery when the time comes. Realistically I'm not having any "side affects" with the extra skin (except for sweating) so we're both thinking insurance may not cover...BUT I was VERY surprised with how much the whole SHABANG was going to cost...(hospital stay, anestesia, procedure, her fees) $7,600... my hubby & I nearly fell off our chairs thinking it was going to be $15 - $20 grand. Honestly that is not bad at all, compared to what I heard on other plastic surgeons...everything was itemized and no hidden costs were left unturned...My husband asked her 3 times if she was sure the dollar figure was correct...LOL... and she assured us it was. The good thing is I have plenty of time to decide my options (Financially) & when I want the surgery...I need a hernia fixed first and I'm scheduled for that repair June 2nd...with Dr. Giovianni. My plastic surgeon thinks August/September I'll be ready to go with the TT should I decide to have it then. Hopefully my weight will stay stabilized as all of a sudden I've dropped another 7 pounds after being stabilized for 2 1/2 months. She's even going to create a new belly button for me...& if I'd like she will pierce it for me while she's there...LOL She says alot of her patients request a belly button piercing what a hoot! My husband has been soooo terrific during this whole process...all he said to me in the car was..."You'll have it done....we'll make a way..we always do." He's such a good guy...and just a doll...(Don't tell him I said that...LOL) I go back to see her in mid-July to go over the pictures she took...submit for insurance etc...so we'll go from there..but thought I'd share with you all my experience. Which was positive and exciting.. Take Care, Mickey

I've been hearing that this is a normal price in these parts too. I'm wondering where the doc that you say is located and if there are any with comparable pricing that works with my surgeon, Dr. Barajas in New Haven.

Mickey, have you considered having Dr. Giovanni or Barba do your plastic work? I had Dr. Barba do my TT at the same time as my hernia, and insurance covered the whole thing, was about $7500 so your figures are corrrect. --Steve
