Fat vs. Muscle

Has anyone else been through this.... I am 5 weeks out and the scale has slowed to a crawl. I am doing exactly what I should be doing and exercising 5 times per week. Doing great, clothes getting bigger and everyone says I am getting smaller. I am sure I am gaining muscle as I lose the fat, but the fact that the scale has dropped only 6 pounds since Easter is driving me crazy. I always heard at the beginning it all fell of and the scale took a nose dive. The only thing that is taking a dive these days is my faith in the scale. Anyone else been through this???

Give your scale to someone! Just keep what you are doing now ! You are on right track and are using your tools. True Muscle gains more but make your body toner! Keep your hard work up Welcome back to Ct message board! Take care, Kathy K

You just keep right on doing what you're supposed to do. The #'s will work themselves out. In order to NOT get discouraged, please consider weighing in only 1x a month on your 'anniversary' date. Also, please consider doing the following: 1. Get a scale that calculates body fat % 2. Take your physical measurments once a month and keep track in writing from month to month. Hang in there- you're doing just FINE!!! Best of luck- Lisa C

I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. I was 5 weeks out on Tuesday and have only lost 7 lbs since 3/28. I know I'm weighing myself too often but I keep hoping for movement on the scale to help provide some feeling of success. I am losing inches and some of my pre-surgery clothes are way too big now. I like the idea of taking good measurements and putting the scale away. Otherwsie it's hard not to feel discouraged. I am maintaining a very low calorie diet which is getting more difficult without a fill (scheduled for next Friday) and I am exercising. I'm just very afraid of another failure. Ellen
