Hi everyone! My name is Liz. I am currently in the process of obtaining a RNY.. Dr. Tishler Htfd Hosp. I started doing this in November 05, and then came a shock that our BCBS insurance, was switching to HEALTH NET. Ughh.. it has been a horrid change might I add. HealthNet told the nurse and me that they were over-riding the 6 month dietary requirements as BCBS didn't require it. And then they STILL denied it. So they suck, and I'm doing the 6 months that they really do require. @@ Dang liars.. that really urked me!!! But oh well, gives me more time to research. I am a SAHM to 2 girls, almost 13 and 3. ((sorry for the vent!!! It just killed me that they would LIE , and then the lady refuses to call me back. All she had to say was sorry, it was a mistake, you have to do the 6 months.. KWIM??))
Ahhh if you made it this far I thank you for listening!!!
We are here to listen !!!! Many of us have been there, done that, bought the t-shirt....
Insurance companies suck. Period, end of discussion- no two ways around it....in the bigger scheme of things 6 months will have been nothing....just not right now while you are doing it.....
So what do you do on ebay? you sell, you buy? I do both, so much so my ebay name is mypostmanhasahernia. (that's my buying ID I have a different one for selling as I had a stalker for awhile who disrupted all my auctions) Gymboree for my kids mostly, and anything else that catches my fancy....dog clothes, pet supplies, artwork, you name it I will look for it and bid on it......

LOL! I need the T-shirt too! Bwhahaha! I do both on ebay also, I was a Gymbo fanatic for a while, but my 3 yr old is in the "I have clothes on for 2 seconds and its dirty" stage.. so its Old Navy for now hee hee
I've been meaning to have 2 ebay names too, just never got around to it.. not for stalker reasons though.. (that is Just CRAZY People r NUTZ!!!!) I make a bunch of stuff, and when I feel like it put it on ebay.. I make the kool-aid purses, the korker and funky girls hair bows... Boutique overalls etc.. But I buy stuff too here and there..
Hi Liz,
I live close by you. In Canterbury. I had my surgery in Nov. of 2005. I called my insurance right away to find out what they covered and I got names and even had them send me a letter with what they verified for me so I had proof if I got cancelled. I needed this surgery and I wasn't going to go through the pre testing just to find out they were strings attached. It will all work out for you. Just keep searching. If you want , email me and we can chat about what I did.
Good Luck, Sarah
Someday, somebody is going to explain to me why insurance companies don't feel the need to treat their memebers like customers AND why they aren't accountable for their mistakes. It's just exasperating. And, it doesn't make sense. Why do they act like we're trying to rob them of something, when all we want is to be healthier and happier. Don't we, as people and customers, deserve to have access to the services that are deemed medically necessary and to have better health?
I hope, one day, that insurance companies will undergo a transformation and truly be looking out for the best interests of their member's health, NOT the amount on $$ in their wallets.
Then again, I also hope for world peace, an end to hunger and while we're at it...'Can't we all just get along'... LOL, so I guess I'm just plain nuts.
Oh-wel...
The point of my email is this- to encourage you to hang in there!!! And to tell you that EVERYTHING that your insurance company says you should insist in getting in writing, never taking anybody's 'word' for it.
Best of luck to you,
Lisa C
Hey Liz,
I have Healthnet too, and I will have to go through the 6 month diet requirement. Also, I will be getting letters from my PCP, my OBGYN (Ovarian cysts and infertility), Cardiologist, Chiropractor and will try to get a sleep study in at Yale. All of these things just lock in the reasons why I need the surgery. Just think 6 months of going through this (excuse my french) BS, makes it worth while in the long run. DON'T GIVE UP! I'll be here with you because I'm on the same boat.

H Andrea!!! Its sad that we have to beg for what we pay for huh? Crazy!!! Who is your surgeon?
This month is my 6th appt.. BUT because the ins couldn't tell me if I could go to the apt, I missed my Jan apt.. so I don't know if they are going to give me issues on that or not.!!
Email me anytime! I'll be updating as soon as I know something.
