Support Group Meetings Mon. & Tues.

Hi, All! Next week is the 1st week of May, so there are 3 meetings for me to tell you about. Mon., 5/1, is the 1st Mon. of the month, so there'll be meetings at both Middlesex Hospital in Middletown (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) and at the Hamden Senior Center (behind the Miller Library, on Dixwell Ave., 6:30 - 8 p.m.). The Middlesex meeting is for pre-ops only and is the one-time, required meeting run by Dr. Aranow's program dietician and psychologist. That same night, the Hamden group (which isn't affiliated with any doctor or hospital, and is for both pre- and post-ops) will have a terrific guest speaker, Terria Linn, a licensed clinical social worker who's been lapbanded and has lost over 300 lbs.! She's spoken to the Hamden group before and is excellent. Her topic will be "Selfless & Selfish." Anyone is welcome to attend, along with supportive significant others, if you want to bring them along. Tues., 5/2, is the 1st Tues. of the month, so it's time for the monthly post-op only support group meeting at Middlesex Hospital (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.). Although most attendees are patients of Dr. Aranow, any post-op is welcome. As usual, a bunch of us will be going to dinner after the Tues. meeting. Also, on Mon. night, although usually the members of the Hamden group tend to run errands or go home after meetings rather than go to dinner, since there'll be some people who don't usually attend coming just to hear Terria, we probably will have a small group going out after the meeting.
