I am 2 months out and am wondering when I can have a SMAll glass of wine or something. I know we absorb things differently now but I am wondering if anyone has any experiences good or bad with an alcoholic beverage. I am going away on vacation and was wondering what might not hit me too hard..LOL or if I can at all.....

At 2 months even a small glass of wine may make you pass out. lol Experiences vary by person but alcohol tends to pack a pretty hefty punch in post-ops. In general they don't advice it for 6 months to a year. I recently drank too much and was dehydrated and generally miserable for days afterward. This isn't to discourage you from ever drinking (b/c I drink on occasion so who am I to judge) but I would wait a few more months if I were you.

Word to the wise- DON'T make your first experiment with alcohol away from home! That could be a HUGE mistake. Everyone reacts to alcohol post op differently. Some extremely, others not. Why risk it while you're trying to have a nice time? Another thought- alcohol is empty LIQUID CALORIES that do you absolutely no good. You cartainly don't need the extra calories while you're trying to loose. all of the above is MHO. Hope you have a nice vacation though! Best, lisa

I haven't had the courage to test it yet- after 4 kids in 5 years, my tolerance was very limited pre-op- I can't imagine I'll be able to tolerate more than a sip of something....so I haven't bothered yet.
