Dr. Elliot Mathias, Family Health Care Assoc., 330 Bridgeport Ave., Shelton
203-929-7331.
He is the one who pointed me in the direction of WLS after listening to me lament about all my failed dieting attempts.  He was very supportive, wrote letters for me, gives me my B-12 shots, etc.
Compassionate man who listens but also is direct when you need to know the truth.
I don't know if he is taking patients but you can try.
Regards,
Bev

I must say that dealing with my pcp was one of the things that I was successful at.  After a WLS seminar, I went to my pcp and simply told her that I wanted a referal to the seminar Dr.  She couldn't really say anything but okay.  She did express her concerns but I think my seriousness gave her no alternative but to okay it.

I see you and my daughter share the same surgeon.   His brother is my cardiologist.  He was my first choice.  But Debbie....  Well, lets just say It was best I choose a different surgical practice.

Although concerned, your pcp she was at least open minded and did not try to discourage you.  Unfortunately for me, a pcp rated one of the "Top Docs" in the NY tri state area told me that most people just gain the wait back in a  few years and dismissed it.  Zero discussion of my concerns.  I hope she remains supportive as she witnesses your success.

I agree.  My PCP tried to talk me out of WLS by saying she has many patients come to her after WLS because they gained it all back.

Is that really the case?

There is a significant percentage of weight regain post-RNY. Talk to your surgeon about the stats. They don't do us any favors by not dealing with this issue head-on. Good luck, Maureen

Maybe your PCP's got patients who gained all their weight back, but it's not always the case. I'm six years out from banding and still maintaining a 200-pound weight loss.

PS: You and I have the same surgeon, so I know you're in good hands!
