I can't tell you how good the support meetings are because I haven't attended one but here is the info for the St. Francis Bariatric Center meetings:

Monthly support group meetings for preoperative and postoperative Bariatric weight loss surgery patients are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Gengras Auditorium 1st floor at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.

*** Please note the October Support Group Date has been changed. Support Group will be held on October 22, 2009 instead of October 27th, 2009, please call the office for time and location of October's Support group. (860) 714-7128.
Warm Regards - Tammy -

As far as I know they are for anyone Kathy - if you want to double check you can call that number and find out - I haven't been to one - even though I know I should - but when Dr. Barba was running them for St. Francis I went a couple times and it was definitely open to all so I'm pretty sure Dr. Raftopolous didn't change those rules!

There is a support at groups in L+M hospital in New London on the third wednesday of each month that are open to everyone.  I think they start at 6pm.  It is a good group and is not affiliated with any one Dr.

Hey there,

There is a support group at Norwalk Hospital with Mary Ziller.  Also at Greenwich hospital Thursday on 1/28 with Lori Nevins.  There are also support groups that meet every last Wednesday at St. Vincent's hospital at 6:30 in Bridgeport.  Good for you for making that extra step to seek out support.  All the best...

There's an RNY support group at Yale-New Haven Hospital first Tuesday of each month at either 6 or 6:30. You can call Dr. Robert Bell's office to find out specifics if you're in the New Haven area.  They are open to everyone.

Having RNY was probably the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Approx highest weight: ~350. Highest measured weight: 338. Surgery weight: 297. Lowest weight (for 5 minutes): 169. Current weight: 209. Goal weight: ??? - maybe 180-185, which was my maintenance weight before the regain.
