Home and Miserable

Well, I made it - 5.5 hours of surgery on Friday - home on Sunday. I'm not a happy person right now and just keep telling myself - this will be over eventually. I had diarreah for two days that kept me from sleeping - it was absolutely disgusting - I'd be sitting in the chair and thinking oh no I better hurry - get to the bathroom and nothing would come out - then I'd walk around get the sensation - nothing - get tired from walking so I'd sit down and have to go again - it was relentless for hours and hours and hours living like that and then trying to keep track of getting the stupid 1 ounce in every 15 minutes - emptying that disgusting drain - which leaked all over the place - nasty, nasty, nasty - the entire process is just not pleasant for me, at least the severe pain has somewhat subsided to dull pain so I know I'm on the mend....

Just wanted to let whoever cares know I survived.

Warm Regards - Tammy -

glad your home. Everything feels better at home. I know you feel overwhelmed right now... we all did. Just remember that each day you will feel a little better. If things don't improve for you call Dr Raftopolous I'm sure he will want to know if you are miserable and not getting your fluids in.
This shall pass.. Will keep you in my thoughts.
Hugs, Kathy

I'm so sorry that it's been hard for you. I hope that you feel better and better every day and that soon you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of your surgery. I've been following your posts so I know the road has been difficult. I hope this is the turning point for you!

Hi Tammy,
I know it doesn't seem like it when you are sitting right in the middle of it, but this is short term.  I hope all goes well and that it is soon a distant memory and you will reach your weight loss goals.
Hang in there.
Hugs,
Bev

Hi Tammy,

Glad to hear that you are at home and well..............."well."  LOL!!  Sorry to hear that you've had a difficult few days.  Keep your chin up.  Your body has gone through an invasive surgery, but you'll be feeling better soon!

Let me know when your next appointment is and if there's anything I can do for you.

Dear Tammy, I am so glad you are home and on the mend.  You sound exhausted, do your best to get in the fluids you need and try to rest as much as you can. You soon will be free of that drain and be feeling much better.

Hang in there, you will get through this.

Oh, Tammy..I'm so sorry you're feeling so horrible.  Did you call the doc's office and get something for the diarrahea?  I'm sure he does not want you up and down so much.  Did he have to do an "open incision" or by lap?

The most important thing at this point in the game is your protein intake. Focus on that and take your pain meds and you should be all set.  If you can get in the max protein a day, you'll recover very well...your body will mend and heal and get you on the path to losing.

Keep moving, too.  At least get up once an hour for a decent stroll around the house, or even outside.  I know you have a little one to chase around..

Have hubby get you some Smar****er and sip on that for your water...I swore/swear by that stuff cause it replenishes what you're missing.  Anesthesia takes a lot out of us and the faster you can rid yourself and your tissues of that, the better.  Sip Sip Sip...I know it's hard, but if you've got the runs, too, you cannot let yourself get dehydrated.

Add a little salt to your system by ways of broth if you feel lightheaded..your blood pressure may be a bit low, also.

If you have any other questions or worries, email me at: [email protected]

Hang in there...you'll get by this part..it's rough, but you'll do it.  Deep breaths and patience.  Just think about the weight you are already losing!

Talk soon,
Paula

Hey Tammy, I am glad you are home, but sorry that you are not doing so great. Keep the long range plan in sight and before you know it things will be much easier.

Take care!
