I can't wait to finish this bowel prep, just one more glass, woo hoo! Surgery is tomorrow @ St Francis w/ Dr. R. I am very excited and nervous at the same time. Just really want to be in the recovery room after all is said and done, but I guess that will be soon enough.

Is there anything I should bring to the hospital that you wished you had?

All the advice and suggestions on these boards have been awesome, thanks to everyone who contributes, it really helped this learker learn ALOT!

See you on the losing side SOON!

don't bring much.. Tooth brush (Hospital ones are bad in my opinion). lip balm (my lips were so parched) Cell phone and a pillow for the ride home. Ipod if you want. anything else is extra and you won't need it.. when you are awake you will be sipping and walking .wear the same clothes to the hospital as you are home, forget the bra, and nothing nice since you are going to have the drain in.
Everything will go great.

I wish you all the best for a very uneventful surgery and a speedy, relatively pain free recovery.

Things to bring with you...

*Chap stick for dry lips.
*Slip on slippers or sandals for the walking around post op
*A very loose nightgown or tee shirt for after your first shower. (I had Aranow and stayed three days)
*A big tee shirt to wear under your elastic band thing so you don't get irritated.
*Ask for an extra pair of white support socks/hose things...I washed a pair every night and hung to air dry and had hubby help me put a fresh pair on..it just felt so good to go to bed with clean feet.
*Your own flavor of Chrystal Lite if the hosp doesn't have what you like.
*  I didn't like Chrystal Lite, so, I had the nurse bring me ho****er in one cup and a two decaf tea bags and another cup of ice and splenda packets...I brewed both bags in the same cup to make a strong cup and then put in the splenda and then poured it over the ice and had my own decaf iced tea.
*Have some bottles of Smar****er at home for afterwards..I swore and still swear by this as it's just plain old water, but has electrolytes in it and I felt it replenished what I'd lost from surgery and the trauma of surgery/recovery/anesthesia, etc.
*You won't want to do much reading, etc in the hospital...I didn't...I didn't bother with books, etc.  You may want to bring your iPod and headphones for your own music, tho..just be careful not to have it ripped off.

If you have a handsome 26ish guy nurse named Mark taking care of you...he's my nephew, tell him I said I treat you extra special!

Here's to being a HUGE loser!!!

 Best of luck tomorrow.

Can I ask what the bowel prep is for? Is that because you're having RNY? I'm having VSG and I don't have to do a bowel prep. Should I ask my doc?

Speedy recovery!

It may be the doctor's preference. He said because he cuts into the intestine, he wants to make sure everything is clean. Dr R is very particular, but has a very good record.
