Count down
Hi Tammy, I'm thinking very good and powerful thoughts for you. Your courage and commitment to taking control of your own health desitny is awe inspiring and I can't wait to read your "losing" posts! What made you decide on this particular surgeon? Can I ask (and you don't have to answer): how much weight did you lose initially, from your band surgery and how much have you regained - to the extent that you feel this revision surgery is necessary? I KNOW I don't have any restriction anymore, so either (or both) my pouch and stoma are terribly enlarged. I am painfully, ravenously hungry all of the time. But I had the bypass in 2004, so I don't think there are any revision options for me - the endoscopy procedures absolutely do not work, they are a scam. Whatever you can share is greatly appreciated and in the meantime, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Best, Maureen
Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.
Thank you Maureen!!
I chose Dr. Raftopolous for two reasons, one his reputation is outstanding and two he is in Hartford - which is closer to me (30 minutes) and with all the appointments back and fourth I needed someone accessible - but primarily it is for his reputation. He is ****y and confident - exactly what a surgeon should be. He's not warm and fuzzy in any sense of the word - but he's brutally honest and direct. I think he's very smart.....It couldn't hurt you to have a consult about what's going on - Have you talked to your doctor? If he doesn't think there is anything wrong AND YOU DO maybe you should make an appointment and talk to Dr. R. You've come too far in your journey and every post from you is loaded with fear of going back (BTW you'll never be the size you were before - that's what I think anyway)--- Your INTUITION is telling you something isn't right - you need to listen to it - right?

Oh and by the way - you asked how much I lost with the band - I think it was like 30 pounds and at least half or more of that was PRE surgery - but even with 30 lbs. gone I was still morbidly obese - (I hate those words) - anyway - I managed to keep it off but never got down - straight restriction didn't work for me - I need the malabsorbptive componenent of the surgery - ya know?
