A question for post-ops
Hi Christine
Congrats on your one year anniversary next week! Happy Rebirthday!
I have to be honest with you. I do not like to compare how much I lost my weight to other WLS people because it will hurt other people's feelings. I guess I have a big heart who care about our WLS Sisters and brothers. I can tell you about my pant size from 26/28 to loosing size 8 pant. I am more grateful that I am no longer to have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, no pains on my both knees and no chest pains from my heart. WLS and Dr Aranow gave me second chance . We are still using our tools to help us to stick to stay more healthier!
I am hoping to meet you at WLS Picnic Party on June 24th.
Hope you will go out to get new spring/summer for your 1 year anniversary present!
Take care
Kathy K
Happy Almost Anniversary! I have lost 154 lbs.
Your post made me wonder though. With a loss of 191 lbs, I certainly hope that you do not think that you are anything less than a success! As far as I am concerned, anyone who sticks with the program and survives a year should feel very proud, despite their weight loss.
I actually had to go back to my profile and check, if that tells you anything about how important this will not be to you in the long run- LOL.
But- I found that I had lost 150 lbs at my 1 year anniversary. its cool to look back and see, but other than that- really doesn't matter all that much.
Here's something else I found on my own profile (which apparently I should really READ once in a while!)
"Have patience in the present, faith in the future, and
joy in the doing."
Best,
Lisa C
Hi Christine, I'm with Kathy, We all lose weight differently and depending what our starting weight is, the amount that we lose in that year will vary. Like Kathy, I started with a waist size of 62 am down to a 40 now. So Be happy with the great progress you have accomplished! Your done a great job! Take Care, Julio
Hi Christine my angelette!!!!
My goodness - has it been a year already since I last saw you???
CONGRATULATIONS on doing so well!!!
I honestly don't remember how much I lost in the first year - but it's just a number and I've learned to treat it as just that.
More importantly - how are you feeling? How's your health compared to 1 year ago? Are you loving clothes shopping now??? (I AM!!!)
Have a fantastic anniversary!!!
Hope you're doing well and you keep in touch!
And post a picture - let us see the new you!!!!
Hugs,

Hi Christine,
I'm almost a year out (4/26) and have lost about 120 pounds. I'm playing yo-yo with around 8 pounds for the past 2 months.
I agree with everyone else who's responded. It's how we feel overall with ourselves and our health. You should feel good & proud with your accomplishment it's tremendous!
Each person is different and I am amazed at anyone who loses weight no matter how much is lost. It's a struggle for all of us and to see a victory happen and such a large obstacle removed due to each of us making a personal decision to have the surgery and become healthy that is a celebration whether it's 5 pounds or 50.
I am thankful for what has been given to me...better health and knowing I'll be around longer for my son....(being able to "play" is an added bonus!)
it is worth it!
Happy Anniversary and Celebrate your success!
Mickey
Christine:
BRAVO for your weight loss to date, with all the bumps you have experienced this past year. You have never given up. I commend your for your fortitude.
ME?
I have lost so much beyond the pounds (the number).
I have lost shame.
I have lost fear.
I have lost pain.
I have lost hopelessness.
I have gained more than I have lost though.
I have gained a new sense of myself.
I have gained so many true friends. (CT OH rocks, FCB rocks)
I have gained new hope and possibility for my future.
I have gained the road to coming home to my "self".... the authentic me.
