Hi Beth, I agreed what you said that all Ct Weightloss Surgeons need to have better post-op follow-up care. It will be nice if one of each doctor in our local hospital will take care of patient if that person went to Emger Room instead of driving long distance like backup weightloss Surgeons. I am sure someday it will happens and will improve for better post-op follow care programs Thank you for speaking up Kathy k

I guess I would have to put in a word for Dr. Darren Tishler at CT Surgical Group in Hartford. He is head of the bariatric program there. I agree with the other posts that everyone should do their research thouroughly before they decide. Sometimes, more often than not, your choice is made when you meet your surgeon. In my case Dr. Tishler had my best interests in mind, I liked his credentials, I heard and read good reviews about him, he was technically advanced in laparoscopic surgery. I'll let you know after he performs my surgery on Monday. Later, Joe

I would hope that you went to the best surgeon for you. I felt I certainly did. Are you asking if he is the best for everyone, I doubt it. There is more than technical skill at stake with any patient, and if what you feel is a key point of support is missing in your surgeon, you will suffer. May we all have had the best we can and could. Peter

had my laproscopic gastric bypass one week ago today in danbury by the talented hands of dr.laura choi,i was at one time going thru dr.giovanni but for insurance reasons i chose to switch to get it done sooner, however,i totally trusted them both and find that they have wonderful programs everywhere,we all feel very strongly about our individual surgeons im sure,as our lives were and are in their hands, this is most definetely a life long commitment,so alot of research should be done to chose the right one for that person,i would most definetely recommend dr.choi to anyone, and i felt like i was at a five star hotel in danbury hospital,,what a crew! but we all have our own special experiences, some good, some bad,but all in all,we are here, and i thank the grace of god for that one! best to you always scott, cyndee

Well...being 4+ years out, that making me an "old-timer", I guess...I did my research and it was between Dr. Barba and Dr. Valin...well...in the end, I chose Dr. Valin...he was able to get me in much more quickly and after talking with him and his staff...well, I knew I made the right choice. Not that Dr. Barba isn't an excellent doctor...it is all in a personal comfort level...and Dr. Valin made me comfortable and he is my hero. He gave me back my life from the prison of Morbid Obesity. Every night I pray to MY higher power to bless his talented hands so that others walking this path behind me may be blessed in the same way that I was by his talents. Take care and Have a Sparkling Day!! Mustang

For me it's Dr. Valin. A short time after my surgery I had to visit my regular doctor and he couldn't get over what a great job Dr Valin did with the surgery. I had it lapascopic. He kept saying how good it all looked. But again everyone must pick their own. I picked Dr. Valin because I knew alot of people that had him and they were happy with him and I recommend him all the time.

Thanks everyone for putting in their two cents. I think that it confirmed that everyone was pretty much happy with their choice of surgeon and did the right thing for them. Thanks for the input. Take care Scott

Hi Scott, I also narrowed it down to Dr. Barba and Dr. Valin and chose Dr. Valin. My way of deciding? I put it all in God's hands and He made the decision for me ... I just followed His lead. As far as I'm concerned Dr. Valin is the best but that's my opinion and when it comes down to it, everyone's own opinion is what really matters. {{{{HUGS}}}} Sandy
