STUCK, Stuck, stuck!!

Last night was the first time I experienced a piece of food getting stuck - I didn't even think I had any restriction at all - there I was mindlessly eating some chicken and I swallowed a piece that was just a little too big - wow did that hurt!! It was a pain that went from my chest into my back and I couldn't breath - it was pretty scary - for those couple of minutes I was totally regretting getting this band! My husband kept telling me to sit down but I just wanted to walk around and try to get it to move - I sipped a little bit of water and walked and it helped. Needless to say I didn't eat much last night........ I'm also getting frustrated because the scale isn't moving even though I'm eating very small portions and exercising (30 minutes a night on my bike) - this is the story of my life before the band - I don't know why I thought it would be different after the band. I know I need to have patience until I get the fills - but I'm just getting scared that this will be just one more failed attempt. The scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks - I'm now 5 weeks out.........Okay enough whining, I just wanted to talk to people who understands the struggle. I'll be okay I always manage to figure out how to deal with life - it's so much better then the alternative! Best Regards, Tammy

Hey Tammy, What kinds of foods are you eating? I will give you the best advice I can. I was told not to worry too much about what the scale says till after your 1st fill. I happened to do good, but I got the stuck feeling sooner than you so then it made me slow down and be good. Do you have the date for your 1st fill yet? Just think of it this way. If the scale isnt going up then you are still making progress. Keep in touch, Bree

Hi Bree - I know, I know everyone told me it could be this way - I guess I was just expecting to be like you! ;) Let's see - today I ate cottage cheese with pineapple for breakfast, Lunch I had a half of a chicken wrap with onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato and swiss cheese with mayo (it was yummy), supper I ate one slice of turkey meatloaf and corn - and I drank 48 ounces of water, 16 ounces of decaf coffee and 32 ounces of crystal light ice tea........ My first fill is on 4/27. The scale has moved up and down the same pound for about 3 weeks now. But Aunt Flo has not come to visit and that might be part of the problem (last time she was here was on 3/2). Sorry if this is TMI for the guys............ Thanks Bree - I appreciate your concern and support! Best Regards, Tammy

I understand, you just feel like venting. I do it all the time! Its good therapy, lets you get it all out so you can start dealing with it. I don't know if the band is different than RNY but I know that it is not rare for scale not to move for awhile. I haven't lost any weight in 2 months but my clothes are falling off of me. I don't measure often but I am assuming that I am losing inches. If you keep at the exercise and your food plan, I am sure that you will see results one way or another after awhile. Hang in there girl!

Thanks! It's nice to be completely understood from someone who has been there. I wish my clothes were falling off me - that's awesome for you to at least feel some results. Best Regards, Tammy

Tammy Relax!!!! Patience is one of the most important tools we have on this "Journey" we are on. Just keep to the plan and it will work. Pay attention to portion sizes and getting your fluids in and excersizing and it will work! So, Do try to relax. Take Care, Julio

The voice of reason and logic - I know you are right Julio - you always put things into perspective and make sense. I know this isn't a race, this isn't a diet, this is a life style -you're right stressing out is not productive! Thanks!! Best Regards, Tammy

Hi Tammy you know I hate the word PATIENCE!!!!!!!!! But it is true to learn to be patience and your result will come out great if you are using your tools. Just keep your exercise, eat right foods and go to support group or call to Lap band people to support each other!!! When is your next Fills? It will getting better after you had your fills. I am looking forward to meet you on June 24th at WLS Picnic Party Hugs Kathy K
