I GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so frustrated. All I want to do is cry..................
I have been at the SAME WEIGHT NOW FOR 2 MONTHS I can not break 190 and if I do it is to get to 186 and then be back to 190 the next day. I have upped my protein so that I am getting in ALL that I am supposed to. I have been walkign on lunch during the day and STILL NOTHING. I am only Almost 7 months out. April 12th will be 7 months.. Is it normal to stop right now?? I HATE MYSELF now because I am looking in the mirror and seeing FAT LISA again. What is my problem?? What am I doing wrong?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!
Lisa
Lisa,
I can understand why you are frustrated, but don't think it is because you are doing something wrong, there are a few stops along the "weigh" on your journey and your body is just doing some adjusting. Send your scale to Kathy K for safe keeping so you don't have to look at the same numbers every day. It sounds like you are doing all the right things exept for the part where you are beating yourself up in the mirror. Don't be so hard on yourself -- you have come a long way baby and you look fantastic. Keep up the exercise and eating right-- you are doing great.
I know how you are feeling for I have been plateaued now for the last 6 months --- it is frustrating, but I try to keep things in perspective --- you know... thinking about where I've been and where I am now. I would like to take 30 more pounds off and it isn't happening at this point. However, I can't remember when I only had 30 pounds to lose so even if it takes 10 years, I would rather be battling 30lbs than 130. I guess that is how i keep my sanity.
Hope this helps,
terri
Lisa:
Are you seeing a nutritionist?
If not... think about it.
I rely on mine to give me feedback.... be the voice of reason.
As it was said, you may not be doing anything *wrong*.
Or you may need to alter or shift something just a bit to make that difference.
Here is the link to a post that I read recently on the topic of Plateaus.

Above all...
DON'T GIVE UP.
And try to be the champion your body needs, remembering it stuck by you before the surgery.
I do believe that we need to stick by our bodies during the slow/rough times.
I learned this from a friend many years ago...
For every bad thing you say about yourself... try this.
say 3 GOOD THINGS ABOUT YOURSELF to counteract the negative message. This is not a superstitious thing... I do believe it is a creative visualization exercise that works. Gets us all thinking the best about ourselves.
And remember...
We love you even when you don't love yourself.
Hang in there...

Hi Lisa
I hope you remember me we met at support group meeting while you was pre op . I am sure you heard from people at Support group about "6 months honeymoon period" Now your honeymoon is over which means you have to work harder with exercise and keep your foods for protein, vetgetables then stratch.
First of all, Please to let NOT this DEVIL scale beats you up! Please drink alot of water before your meal, increase your exercise up for cardio to burn more calories than just walking ( change to different kind of exercise), stick with high protein foods and NO CARBS!!!, and write down the food/Exercise log book which it help me alot to keep my track with my foods/exercise. Make plan for small goal to reach your mini goal then reward yourself . We have to give up our old lifesytle and change our new lifesytle and stick with this . If you do not use your tools then you wont be successfully. go support group or see your counselor to talk about this issue. Please to not give up... You still have time to lose more pounds if you stick with this plans.
We are rooting for you and support you
Hugs

You are a wonderful person and you have been so kind to me and I enjoy emailing you and talking to you on the phone too! I love your sense of humor!~ You've come so far and you have so much farther to go!~ Don't let a plateau take away your beautiful spirit!

Angie
Hi lisa,
please dont give up,and please,please...Love yourself!!!!! You have come along way to just give up,I have heard alot about people being at standstills,my friend is 3 years out,and has gained some weight back, but she kept at it,and lost it again, just keep staying on the right track, think positive, keep walking talk to your nutritionist, you will be fine..Your a beautiful woman, dont give up on yourself,,,hang in there,,please!!!!!!!!!! Cyndee
Hi Lisa,
Please don't let the scale get you down...look at how far you have come in 7 months! That is AMAZING! You are doing all the right things and your conscious of the decisions you're making with food choices. Put that nasty mean scale away...and celebrate who you are!
You need to go to the mirror and say 3 positive things about yourself...
Here's my 3 for you...
You are an AMAZING and BRAVE individual for having a LIFE CHANGING surgery to become a healthier person.
You are loved and appreciated by your friends, family, and participants on this website. YOU ARE A ROLE MODEL FOR POSITIVE CHANGE!
You are strong and will be able to achieve your goals because you're determined and focused.
Now take out one of your larger sized clothes (if you still have any) and put them on...Seeing them loose or falling off your body..NOW THAT'S a miracle isn't it?? The plateau will pass...keep the protein up & your spirits.
Final note...take out a "before" picture and look at yourself now! See what a difference 7 months has made? CELEBRATE GIRLY!
Hugs,
Mickey
2 months at the same weight when you're doing everything right is the ultimate slap in the face! I totally understand how frustrated you must feel - it's so unfair!!!
I guess the answer for you is you have to make some changes and shock your body into a losing pattern again - I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination (see my stuck, stuck, stuck post) - but in your case you are so much farther out then I am - I bet your body is used to a routine - I've read this in several places - do you eat the same type of food all the time? Do you do the same excercise all the time? Maybe try making one or two small changes and see if that works - Are you getting enough sleep (too little sleep can slow your metabolism - I'm example A with sleep apnea - the ultimate in keeping the body from burning ANYTHING...ughhh)!
I'm just curious though - would you really, really, deep down want to give up? Would you like to eat junk and get those old feelings back in your life? You say you see the fat person - but do you feel her?
Maybe that could be the change your body needs too - just for one week - give up - give yourself permission to just give up - only for a week and then get back to basics -this isn't a race so giving up for a week once in a while in my book is totally acceptable - but what exactly would you change for that week if you were given "permission" to just give up??
Hang in there - you will win this battle because you are committed to figuring it out - the majority of people who have WLS really don't have the I give up mentality. You're a fighter.........give yourself a break and stop beating yourself up - you certainly don't deserve that negative self talk - be nice to yourself - you deserve it!
Best Regards,
Tammy
