GRAZING ISSUE
Hi Everybody,
I want to share with you all about grazing issue. Since one of WLS person emailed me private and asked me if I have a grazing day! Yes I do but I made a plan to leave good gazing stuff in my refrig like broiled egg , mozz cheese stick or some shrimps for my grazing but I put stricter on myself that I refused to touch junk foods around my house but allowed myself to have good carb once a while not everyday. You know we all have days like this. we are only human! You know the most important thing is to not make it a HABIT!! It is not too late to get you back on right track and start new day That is why I am using diet+ exercise assistant on my palm to track my food intake and use to post food/exercise from monday through friday on Ct Mesage board.
Here are my tips to share you all.....
You know for me... When I am really stressed, I find that I graze.... If I am bored, then I find that I graze... So I changed my plan... I forced myself to drink 16 oz bottle of water before my each meal to help me feel full and no junk foods in my desk at work except bottle of waters or nectar protein stuffs are allowing! I forced to listen my size 8 pant to tell me if it is too tight or losing . I stayed away from my Kitchen at home because it is calling me to go get grazing but I go there to cook foods for my fmaily then get out from my kitchen. It used my favorite room in the past and now my favorite place is family room where my treadmill and exercise bike there so I can watch Tv while I am exercise. That is why we have to use one of our tools! Thank you for that person who wants me to post about grazing issue since that person thought I never have grazing feeling but I DO! I use my wise choice because I do not want to go back , Never again!
Thank you for listening my honest words!
Feel free to share your No judgement here! we all are support each other and change new plan You can do it

Sorry WLS Family....
you know me I hate Mondays!!! Of course I do exercise 5 or 6 times a week plus to do alot of work outside at our front and back yard on weekends. It is important to do exercise 20 - 30 with cardio three or four times a week better than nothing. I bet you will feeling much better if you did it.

Thanks, Kathy, for posting this. I know that for me, grazing can be a problem and I've caught myself a lot lately (and it's too soon out for me to be doing this) grazing throughout the day. I'm home alone all day long and I'm noticing that I'm more bored than anything, so what do I do? I go back to old habits.
It's time for a dietician appt. Gotta get back on track.
We all look up to you Kathy and you're perfect in our eyes. It's good to see that you're no "so" perfect all the time and have your bad days too!
Paula
Hi Paula
I do understand about your grazing. buy small notebook to track your food/ exercise log and it might help you back on right track. You can talk with me about this issue on April 20th at my house. You can try my nordric walking poles to see if you like it. It will help you to do it while you are home alone all day to burn more calories. We will stick together and support each other like WLS Family. Read the day about exercise and eating right food today at The day newspaper

Grazing for me is a slippery slope. Because of my hypoglycemia, I have to eat something every couple of hours, and I need to eat carbohydrates.. So it's really easy to slip into grazing behaviors...I was actually just thinking about a new plan this weekend. I think that my most difficult time is the evening, just as it was when I was morbidly obese...so as of today, no more snacking at all after 7 pm....No food will pass these lips, (except on special occasions like the support group dinners)after 7 pm...If I get the "munchies" i will drink water......
During the day I will continue to eat every couple of hours....but I will drink first, and will make sure I always bring good, healthy snacks with me to work....I will bring celery sticks more often, as they are crunchy and really "hit the spot"...I will have packets of oatmeal at work, for the times when I get really hungry and a regular snack is not enough. And I will limit my cafeine intake and go more often for the decaf coffees, as I think too much cafeine is making my sensative pouch cranky...
And I will try to include some protein with each snack, as it will keep me satisfied longer and will keep my bloodsugar level up.....I will not give in the cravings for things I know are bad for me, like the half a slice of pizza I wolved down on saturday night, eventhough I know pizza makes me sick (at least I stopped at half a slice, not enough to make me sick, and my selfcontrol came back)...
AND I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHERE I CAME FROM< THAT PLACE I NEVER WANT TO GO BACK TO>....I will always remember how easy it was to have no control over food, how easy it was to become morbidly obese,
how hard it was to make the choice to save my life and have this surgery...
I will remember
Thanks for the post Kathy,
Love,
Dorota
Hi Dorota
I love put peanutbutter on celery and it filled me up! I am sure you will use wise snacks for your bloodsugar level up! I hate Coffee !!!!!! but I was ex diet pespi fan!!! I dont drink this anymore because Dr Aranow made me stop this when he ordered me to lose 20 pounds. I don't miss diet pespi. when my family or friends have pizza then I always order chef salad for myself and sometime i picked some mozz cheese on top of pizza but I do not eat the pizza bread.
Thank you for sharing honest words here and Pre op and post op people need to hear this. We are not perfect human !

I have to eat every few hours to keep the blood sugar up as well and I certainly think that this added to the grazing. Someone on the main board she was taking glucagon shots instead of eating extra small meals. Do you know anything about that? I am thinking of looking into this when I talk to my new doc on Thursday.
It's easy for me to be good on the weekends when I am workling and not home. Then its a very good day- boiled egg breakfast, salad or soup with protein powder lunch, and a nice sensible dinner- that's it.
BUT home with my kids- it's hard- "Mommy I am done with this bowl of Fruit Loops" so easy to cop a bite or two or three.... "here mommy I don't want this anymore you eat it" and I get handed a half eaten package of little chocolate chip cookies....Lunchtime rolls around and I am spooning Spaghettios into my 4 year old....then me....I think when I stop and add it all up -its nothing like what I used to eat- and the weight loss is on target-but I still feel bad about doing it. SO I think Kathy- thanks for the advice- good plan have proper snack attack foods easily in reach. Grab a cheez stick instead of Cheeze Doodles. The issue of the plates at dinner was a toughie too- now I make my 9 and 8 year old scrape all the plates after dinner- that way I don't scrape them into me.....I am finding it easier and easier to be good and make good choices, but old habits die hard. The surgery didn't fix us- it just gave us the power to fix ourselves. Agree?
