My surgery on the 5th went as planned and without any problems! I still can't believe it's over. I had a good stay on the 6th floor. Had good pain relief from my IV medication. I was up walking the evening of surgery without incidence. Friday was the first day I got to have any fluids and my foley catherter in my bladder was removed. I concentrated on getting 1 oz of H2O every 15 minutes while I was awake and had no problem with nausea, but by the end of the day was pretty tired of jus****er. On Saturday I started clear sugar free fluids and fatfree lactaid milk, 1 oz every 15 minutes. The doctor came in and took out my drain, I have to say it was not as bad as I have heard. It was uncomfortable but it was so quickly done. It was the more weird sensation I felt as it was pulled out that bothered me. I could feel it moving from the middle until it came out to the side. I was then cleared to go home. My IV was taken out and I was given discharge info then I was on my way. I have been home now for two days and have taken only twice some pain medicine, it taste's terrible so I'm not taking anymore, luckily I really don't need it. I am getting around just as well as before surgery. I am so pleased with how things are going. Have started my protien drinks, trying different ways to mix it. I really liked the unflavored unjury protien mixed in chicken broth, I tasted just like broth and was soothing. If anyone trys that be sure to mix powder with broth before you heat it and heat only to 130 degrees no more. I am to See Dr. Barba in the office on Tuesday. I wonder if I will lose any weight at all. I gained about 11lbs of water weight in the hospital. Will give update on Tue. Thanks for all the good wishes and suppport. Sher L

Great Going Sher! Welcome to the "Losing Side". Take your time and all will be well. The weight you gained in the hospital was just all the fluids they were pumping into you! Not to worry. You will be falling out of your pants in a couple of weeks so be ready for someclothing adjustments! Best Wishes! Julio
