i am new to the forum, i will be having my surgery on 4/17/06 at st. rapheals hospital in ct. i am very nervous about doing this surgery, i opted for the VBG procedure because of the time off of work (less time home from about 2 wks) i will like to hear from people who had this procedure done, or from people who could give me some ideals about what to expect after surgery. anything will help me thanks.

Hello Tinna, I had the gastric bypass surgery by Dr. Barajas December 2004 and I feel wonderful, I have lost 106lbs so far and am at a standstill right now. Its been a long rode but a great one. Your with a great group and Dr. Valin is a great surgeon. I actually have his wife as my medical assisant at my PCP office. She is great too. I have that connection with the surgeon and my PCP which is great too. Your procedure I am not to familiar with but your making the right decision for your future life and health. As you will see this is a wonderful site and a we are like a big family here. You will get a lot of love and support here from many wonderful people. We are having a picnic on June 24th at Hammonasset if you would like to join us and meet everyone. It will be a fun day and alot of us will be there. Postops, Preops and anyone who is interested in the surgery are more than welcome too, so are family, friends and significant others. Well good luck to you and any questions don't hesitate to email me, if I can answer I will or I will refer you to one of our members who can. Take care sweetie and Welcome to the OH Family!!! Hugs KimC

Welcome to the Connecticut forum! I work with two people who went to doctor Valin and have nothing but great reviews. One had the bypass and the other had the band - both are pleased. I'm sorry I don't have first hand experience with this particular surgeon to share - but just wanted to let you know that two people that I respect - think he's great! Best of luck to you! Tammy

Welcome Tinna, I am stumped, what is a VBG? I had the Gastric bypass, and was back at work in less than two weeks, but I understand that was less time than most people take....Good luck, Dorota

Welcome Tinna, You will have to keep us updated to your surgery. Just listen to what the doctor says and don't push yourself too hard. You need time to heal, inside as well as outside. Before you know it, you will be on the loosing side and feeling and looking great. My best to you, Hugs, Sarah
