Is there a jump start?

Hi All First and foremost I would like to express how beautiful/handsome you all look in the new updated pics ...I as of yet have not had the courage to post a photo as there are people in my life that still do not know I had the surgery (it's a long story...) Anyway, I'm a year and a half out and the weight loss is very, very slow now (2lbs since December). I exercise and watch the food and liquids....but the scale does not move. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to not gain anything. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or a diet they use to jump start weight loss during plateaus...I am contemplating going to Diana (the dietician...) I am now 160 at 5 '6'' down from 250, would like to get to 140s... Any info appreciated.

Hi Cristina, Wnen we start getting this close to goal the weight loss tends to slow to a crawl. I was stuck for almost 2 months before the scale started moving again. Just keep doing what your doing and it will start up again. Sorry I can't offer anything of more substance but frankly thats what worked for me, Take care, Julio

Hi Cristina! Congrats on doing so well, you should be very proud of yourself! Once you hit that 18 month mark something just happens to a lot of people and the weight loss slows or stops (it certainly did for me!). I've also found that most people are stuck in a routine by this point. To start the weight moving you have to do something different. Anything different. Change your food choices or increase protein or water or change your exercise routine. Just pick one thing and try that for a week. I do have a Plateau buster diet that has been posted here many times, if you'd like it, email me. The other thing I'd like to offer up is this - How do you feel at this weight? Are you happy with your clothes size? Is your goal of the 140's realistic? Only you can know the answer here because it's your body and you know best, but I've found that people often fixate on a number when really - it's just a number, listen to your body. Congratulations on your successes!! Hugs, Carla OH Support Group Leader

Thanks for the words of wisdom Carla and Julio....I appreciate it. Yes, I will try to jazz up my routine a little bit and see how it goes. May take you up on the Plateau Buster diet, Carla...sounds interesting. I do agree that the weight is only a number...some of my docs have said I look fine the way I am and not to lose anymore weight. I'm stuck with that "140" because that is what the dietician had said would be my goal weight when we first met pre-op. Honestly, I still feel strange in my own skin, I have to say and have never thought about what a realistic goal would be. I am in a size 8/10, small tops, but don't see myself as a "small" by any means. I do feel more energetic and enjoy being outside much more, even if it's just for walking. I spent most of my life yoyo-ing, so it's strange for me to be in this situation. But no matter what, I wouldn't change it for the world, that's for sure!!!!!
