I am out 15 months, and am constantly being told, that I am TOO THIN.. I don't know how to respond, but this is a constant comment. I know that I am under a lot of undue stress; (mother has Alzeheimers and lives with me) and have dropped from a size 10 to a 7/8 in a months time. I am getting ready for plastic surgery in June on my face, arms and thighs. I have bones that I never knew that I had, and all my life I was told that I was "big boned" I find that I am not!! Can one be too thin??? I am tired of being told not to lose any more weight by all who have seen me. Oh well, maybe I shouldn't complain, but it makes me wonder if I should get on the scale. I go by my clothes and do not weigh myself. Also can diabetes come back after losing this weight? If someone can shed some light and support , I will appreciate it!! BlkNectar

First of all check the scale, then ask yourself how you feel, are you more tired? How is your skin color? Are you eating well and taking your supplements? Have you had recent blood work and was it normal? What does your doctor say? If everything is normal and the doctor feels your weight is ok and you feel ok I wouldn't let the comments bother you. Some people might not be use to the new you yet and I'm sure your being stressed out doesn't help, but don't forget you need to take care of yourself, if you want to continue to help others. For the diabetes people with type 1 diabetes can present with quick weight loss as a symptom. I'm sorry for your mom's illness, it is such a difficult one to go through with someone, I hope you have help with her care so you can have some time for yourself. That is very important for your well being. Wishing you well. Sher L

Hi BlkNectar I am almost 18 months and have been told that I exercise too much and I am too thin too but I feel great, more engery and enjoy my freedom from my health. They told me to take easy with exercise and eat more !!! Oh brother! I do not listen what people thinks but I do know that my body is fine and I am more happier with my healthier and my body except alot of skin hanger . I will have Tummy Tuck and breast lifts in August after I will enjoy alot of fun this Summer with my friends, family and my kids About diabetes, I am not sure to answer this but I think it may possible to come back if you regain your weight back but ask your doctor about this. I am still wearing size 8 losing pant and my weight is still same on my scale for over 5 months which is great because it did not regain back or my pant is not too tight to wear Good Luck with your reconstructive surgery and you will probably go into size 6 after this done! Just use your tools and don't listen people who do not have WLS because they do not understand what it like until they are in our shoes! Hugs Kathy K

Thanks Kathy, I do remember you at group and we kind of went around the same time. I feel great and to me that is all that I care about. It is mid boggling to be told to stop losing weight after being heavy most of my or rather all of my life. I was fortuate that I was never really obsese, just had a lot of co-morbity problems. I as however "heavy" size 18. I am going for my face, arms and thighs in June, I was denied TT and breasts, so I have to go the appeal route, I need some help with this if possible on the appeal letter. Anyway, I thank you for your response, and I guess as long as I feel good, I won't worry!! BlkNectar

Blknecter: Of COURSE you can get too thin! I was having the same concern a few months ago when, at 5'10", I was 158 (160 now) and had a PS estimate that I had about 10 pounds of extra skin, making me 148. That, to me, is bordering on "too thin." That's based on my opinion, not on medical science. Too thin, apparently, is when you're not getting enough calories and vitamins/minerals to sustain life (a la Karen Carpenter or Terri Schievo.) I keep getting told that "this thing" (weight loss) slows down and your body reaches its own preferred weight. (laughs) I thought that on the way UP, too, and my body just kept going, so I really don't trust it to stop on the way down. Check a BMI calculator to see what defines "normal" and "underweight" for your height. According to most charts, I could be 120 and still be a "normal" weight. However, in MY mind, 120 and 5'10 is skeletal. You don't need me to tell you what you already know, but I will: call your surgeon and/or nutrionist. Bette Part of the Too-Thin? Brigade

Well Bette, I am glad that I am not alone. I think for me to go to a store and I did , I bought a pair of pants and ended up in a size 6. I am 5' 8" and it scared me. Now I can't find small size clothes, go figure. I guess as long as I feel good I am not going to worry, I know that iI am not eating right and that might be making a differnece as well. I am going to get my act togeter and hopefully after my TT I will be a size 5/6 or at least that is what they are estimating. OMG.. pinch me!!! BlkNectar

I know what you mean. When I wore a size 30/32, I couldn't find a damned thing. Now the woman's department is overloaded with stock and there's nothing in the size I need. I know I'll never need a smaller size than an 8, though, since that size - while fitting well on my waist - barely fits over my "breeder's hips." Hmm...d'ya think maybe WLS is skewing the clothing inventory needs of department stores?? Bette

Bette, you are too funny!!! Just for ha ha's I got naked and stood in front of the mirror OMG yes I had a waist, (somewhere) and yes a shape appeared!! I never looked that way when I was heavier, it looks like someon took a pin and popped my ballon. It sucks when you go in a store and there are no 9;s just 8's and 10's. I used to dream of going in any store and buying what I want, now that I can, I am too broke to buy anything.( I was standing at Chico's wanting to buy the 300.00 size 9 jeans that I got into. . I just never thought that I would be in a position to just go into any store and say 12 and 14's are too big (got to pinch myself). I am afraid to go to NY as I would be a shopping fool. Now I did go to The Avenue and Lane Bryant, and I finally realize that I no longer will ever need to go in those stores again. I even went to Torrid (now that I don't wear a plus size) and they had some nice things. Anyway Bette, I am feeling ya, where are the 9's??? If someone finds them let me know, as today I had to buy a size 6, and it fits. Well, thanks for all the support and responses, hope to meet you soon and laugh!! BlkNectar

Oh, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the size 9, much like the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot, is a cruel hoax. I'm so sorry. I've seen these stores atthe mall called "5-7-9" and thought they were for those sizes, but I think that's the ages of the girls who shop there. Then again, maybe 5, 7 and 9 are someone's locker combination, or numbers off the hatch on "Lost." Oops. No, that was 4-8-15-16-23 and 42. I give up.
