Going to California

So it has been 5 years since I have been back to California, and the fates have given me time off from both teaching and grad school for a week. It is time to go back and visit the extended family. This will be the first flight post-surgery, and I have no idea how people will respond when I get there. (an adventure) Dave

dave, where abouts in california are you going? in august, my husband and i are taking a trip to wine country, something we've always wanted to do, for our 20th wedding anniversary. just wondering if you're familiar with the area...

I am going to southern CA, starting in LA and heading about 2 to 4 hours north (Bakersfield and Fresno area). Napa Valley and the coast are further north by 4 hours or so. For vacation, most likely you will be seeking out the coast. Another fun thing to do near the wine coutry is Whale watching in Morro Bay, and joining a deep sea fishing ride. Hearst Castle in San Simeon was also worth it and that is in the area. I am more familiar with interior CA, where I used to teach. Dave

Hi Dave You will walk past your family in the airport, they won't recognize you. Have a great trip, enjoy all of the extra room you will have in the seat. Thanks for the information. I am not sure how much longer I will be going to group, at least in the near future. We will have to see. Maybe I will come back when I am down to 250, or 225. Dave
